those waterfalls on the law courts, is there a reason they stopped using them? or did they just not feel like paying for the pumps to keep the water flowing? it looks so much nicer with them on then off.

Temporary stickers on the windows - noticed the same ones on the Nordstrom Restaurant protrusion too.

No idea. They're off at 1075 West Georgia, too -- another Erickson building. I don't think he'd be too happy knowing that the water wasn't running at those two sites.

Maybe it's maintenance or something. I recall periods when the waterfalls would be shut down for a number of weeks, then start up again.

Can't be maintenance for an entire year. It's so strange that they spent all that money changing the waterproofing, but have now stopped using the water.

Is Cadillac Fairview moving in there too? They used to be in the Canaccord building if I remember correctly.

A wide swath of louvres for the panels enclosing the emergency stair and the vent shaft:

Looks the same as the louvres above the new 725 Granville office lobby
(which hide mechanical space):

It's a shame they couldn't have gone with nicer louvres.

No, those are special ones to mark the Nordstrom entrance.
You don't want to draw attention to these ones.

In years to come, you'll be able to date the Old Navy building and Nordstrom from the matching spandrels:

The rotunda entrance may be quite bright in there (compared to the tinted glass of Eatons/Sears (also facing north)):

You can see some steel on the left that they'll extend to the right to fill-in the circular edge of the 2nd floor at the rotunda.

****

Memo sent around the office - the crane comes down on Monday, June 30th.

Quote:
DATE: June 23, 2014

ATTENTION: All Office Tenants – Pacific Centre and HSBC Building

WHAT: 725 Granville Redevelopment Project – Crane Demobilization

WHEN: Monday, June 30, 2014 between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

WHERE: Howe Street between West Georgia Street and Robson Street

WHY: As part of the ongoing Redevelopment Project, Ledcor Construction is now prepared to demobilize the tower crane on Howe Street and will need to close the street to accommodate this work.

IMPACT: In order to demobilize the crane, Ledcor Construction will be installing some shoring within the the Pacific Centre Easy Park parkade during the week of June 23 to 27. The shoring will be installed at the entrance of the parkade, at the bottom of the ramp, off of Howe Street, and in 4 locations in the parkade, on the P1 and P2 levels. As part of this work, the entrance to the Pacific Centre parkade from Howe and Robson Streets will be unavailable on June 29 and 30 for the entire day.

On Monday, June 30, the crane will be demobilized and the City of Vancouver will close Howe Street from West Georgia Street to Robson Street to accommodate this work. Street permits and traffic control measures will be in place. The entrance to the Pacific Centre parkade from Howe and Robson Streets, as well as the exit on Howe Street will be closed. Alternatively, the Smithe and Dunsmuir exits will available for parkade egress.

The crane demobilization will be complete and the shoring removed by the end of day on June 30, with access to the parkade being reinstated for Tuesday, July 1.
