I would be willing to bet money that Cadillac-Fairview definitely has plans to redevelop that garage, maybe once this building is finished. It's such a prime piece of land that I just don't see how it doesn't get redeveloped in the next 5-10 years.

Not to mention they never finished it and are basically holding it together with duct tape at this point.

The one built by Ogilvy lasted 50+ years. This one was not built with the same quality or workmanship.

For sure they do plan to redevelop it.

Hoping for a hotel since the current u/c site was supposed to be a hotel. We need more support for the Convention Centre.

Put it underground and add some additional high-density housing and commercial. Boom, done you have a revitalized corridor for students/young professionals.
I'm sure you could even leave it as is and still build some housing on top.

That garage is literally crumbling to pieces, so I really doubt it

Motion for planned housing on contaminated sites narrowly defeated
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canad...1319da8&ei=107

Read this article this morning. I really hope this doesn't stall or pause the project.

Maddening. If they want to revisit these grants/tax breaks, pause them or kill them, don't let them run and have developers waste their time submit eligible applications just to reject. I hope the Airport, Germain and CF sues the City.

This is a world of stupid, and pure politics.

Councillor Curry voted against the motion yet a few months prior she was a HUGE supporter of allowing le Germain to get that same grant. Hypocrite much

Several of the Councillors voted in favour of these grants July last year and voted against this year on both Germain and this one. They just vote with the Mayor of the day, or they are bitter about really dumb stuff.

Current Council is quite terrible.

Good. Hope the rejected grant doesn't slow them down or result in a cheapened product.

Holy Guacamole, they moved the ramp to the Shaw Centre loading docks over. I only just realized that the truck entrance will be right through the podium of the building between the parking garage entrance (for the building) and the ramp down to the Shaw Centre parking garage. This will be a very interesting excavation, quite the juggling act.

The crumbling decaying 'new' Rideau Centre parking garage in the background looks even sadder in the rain

Hopefully they'll tackle that after Rideau Registry is built.

That dank, urine soaked, hell-hole of a parking garage needs to go asap. What a prime location that would be for a nice tall 40-50 storey landmark tower!

We'll have invented Wormhole technology before that's even considered.
