Loving the constantly evolving facade of the New West waterfront skyline through the years.

It is the birthplace of the Lower Mainland, after all, and personally named by Queen Victoria after the administrative centre of the UK in London: Westminster, where the British parliament (Big Ben) and the head of the Anglican church (Westminster Abbey) are located. Therefore it does deserve the attention it is receiving now.

Here's a picture from this morning showing part of the ex-parking lot along with the pilings wall they've built up along the river. The pilings in the "pool" are old pilings that'll need to be removed.

New 6th Street pedestrian overpass under construction







Still constructing the new boardwalk / westminster pier park extension which will open first before the construction begins on the towers.

"Under construction" under the loosest possible sense in that they're not actively building it right now. For whatever reason it appears that the railway companies haven't yet given permission to the development company to build the overpass over the tracks, and that's why construction on the bridge has stalled. It was supposed to be completed in 2019.

From the city council agenda on November 25, 2019:

Construction of the Sixth Street overpass commenced in late March 2019 with the ramp installation. Due to delay in securing permits from the railway companies approximately 50% of the structure is complete. BOSA is actively pursuing the necessary permits and legal agreements from the railway companies. Once all permits are in place, installation of the main bridge span along with construction of the remainder ramp structure is expected to take about five to six months subject to weather and other unforeseen site conditions. The Development Agreement stipulates that prior to the construction of any buildings and structures, the Sixth Street Pedestrian Overpass, must be completed and open to the public. This requirement ensures that a western public pedestrian access to the WPP is available while excavation of the development site commences.

Thank you for the excellent pictures to give status to this project. Looks like Bosa (edit) is still shoring up the site along with sufficient dredging activity. I'd be apprehensive about living in a condo so close to the water.

I believe according to the forum rules, excavation does not count as construction. My understanding is that excavating and pile driving falls under site preparation in order to proceed with the actual construction of the building if that make sense.
