True, and with the new bike paths on Coventry and to the bridge, the Coventry store is also a bit better to get to without a car. Still, not an ideal way to serve people in the central city.

This project is making me think we need more out of town developers to come build in Ottawa. A local developer wouldn't have proposed something like this.

My thoughts and almost everyone else's exactly. I'm thinking height reductions and material changes will happen to slot it right in with the other stumps.

There is no way 38 stories in that spot could affect a view plane. You wouldn't even see the top of it from the lawn of Parliament.

I have a hard time imagining that market factors would do anything except push the height higher and higher given how low the vacancy rates are and how fast the real estate market is growing. Last year Ottawa's real estate market was the fastest growing market in all of Canada.

I'm guessing somebody either on the bureaucratic end or on the political side slipped them a note explaining how things work here and what is and is not permitted in this town. Change is scary and whatnot and so forth.

I really don't see why 38 would be inappropriate for this site. It's right downtown, next to LRT station and should not interfere with the view planes, so what gives?

Kinda annoying it already got reduced to 33 stories. Keep it at 38...... the design is clearly there, let them add the height.
