Just modify your signature to say " over 490 ft. | 149m. "

This way, towers that are just below the line for 500 feet will shine in your signature once they are u/c.

But with developers, no idea why they always fall short. Its like the projects that are 20 ft shy from a 1000 ft.

Could it be that maybe the FAA is harsher on buildings once they reach a certain range?

Just a hypothetical, but I wonder if they do it based on categories and the risk to aviation/close proximity to flight paths.

Edit: Categories that differ from those height contour maps.

I'd imagine those flight maps that radiate outwards from an airport have something to do with it or it could just be an easy way to not deal with the hassle if they are in a region where 500 or greater might give them issues.

It could also be that developers don't care. We're interested in these height in feet/meter benchmarks. They don't care about spending the extra thousands of dollars to hit that height plateau. A 980-foot building looks pretty much just as tall as a 1000-footer.

The highly-anticipated PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter, the first and only residential tower currently for sale within the 30-acre Miami Worldcenter site, is one step closer to making its debut with today’s announcement that official site demolition is underway. The announcement comes on the heels of the City of Miami’s building approval, as well as the tremendous sales response PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter has received, with current sales representing over 40% of the building.

To capitalize on this momentum, the 60-story condominium tower will be hosting a Demolition Event on Thursday, September 3 at 10:30 am to commemorate the demolition of the last remaining building on the Miami Worldcenter site located at 950 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33132. Currently comprised of former warehouses and empty lots, the demolition paves the way for the start of construction of The Mall at Miami Worldcenter and PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter later this fall.

I work in the geosciences (geologist), and dealing with project managers (man in white shirt), its not that they are a holes, but its the stress that they have. If one of the employees (in this case the operator), fucks up, then he could be in deep trouble. Even if somebody gets injured, OSHA can be nasty. But in general, construction or remediation, anytime there's men involved, lots of shouting and curse words.

But, the work does get finished at the end of the day.

I've operated an excavator before (670G LC), and they can be quite a thrill. Although the one at the site has those lame environmental blades, not the saw toothed ones.

Yeah its the last property demo'd so Paramount can rise. Can't wait for this to finally start. Been too long, and the suspense is great. I only hope the innovation district moves as fast as this has in terms of real estate moving through the process.

Once this is done, downtown Miami may get some recognition as a destination for shopping outside the country.

I hope this will encourage spill over development into the old downtown area. I prefer an authentic downtown full of vibrant retail and other uses versus just a planned mall like this. Soon enough the old downtown will have to be completely upgraded as there won't be anywhere else to build. Miami is after all constrained in terms of land due to the everglades and the ocean, so the future of the downtown core looks bright.

Block E at Miami Worldcenter will surely be a transformational development for Park West. Now, renderings of Arquitectonica’s design for the project have been obtained by TNM and published for the first time.

Located at 725 North Miami Avenue, the project will include condo units, rental units, and two hotels. Also included will be a small amount of retail and office space.

Two towers are proposed, one at 48 stories and the second at 37 stories. The project use breaks down at:

897 residential units
344 hotel rooms
38,850 square feet of office space
10,000 square feet of retail
11,400 square feet of restaurant
1,032 parking spaces
In total, 1,726,000 square feet of building area will be constructed. The tallest tower tops out at 504 feet.

Two developers, ZOM and Newgard Development, have been linked to the project. Miami’s UDRB is set to review the project later this month.

Details and renderings of at least one more Worldcenter block will be published by TNM shortly.

Activity At Marriott Expo Center Site, Construction Permit Not Yet Pulled

Construction material has appeared on the site of the proposed Marriot Expo Center.

Construction permits have been applied for but haven’t been pulled yet, and developer MDM Group hasn’t closed on the land. An affiliate of Miami Worldcenter still owns the land.

The proposed project would become the largest hotel in Miami, with 1,800 rooms and 600,000-square feet of convention space.

Late last month, MDM said that they were aiming to have a $100 million subsidy deal for the project in place by the end of October. They said that the hotel would open by fall of 2018.

Test Piles Set To Begin At Worldcenter; Taubman Investment Will Be ‘Significant’

Test piling is about to begin at Paramount Miami Worldcenter, while NYSE-listed mall developer Taubman finalizes a ‘significant’ investment in the project.

Foundation equipment is now on site. Worldcenter’s Nitin Motwani told The Real Deal two weeks ago that test piling work was about to begin, with groundbreaking by year end.

If Taubman Centers is involved in Miami Worldcenter, the company will make a ‘significant investment’ in the project, Chairman, President and CEO Robert Taubman said this week on a conference call with analysts this week.

Taubman would not reveal further details about the project. He reiterated that he was bullish on the Miami market, and said that an announcement on Worldcenter would be made by the end of the year.

Worldcenter’s tax incentive deal with the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency is still facing a legal challenge from developer Martin Margulies. A lawsuit by Margulies was dismissed last month, but Margulies filed notice earlier this month that he was appealing.
