Two New Towers Bringing Density and Public Art to Yaletown

To the south, at 1396 Richards Street, the Onni Group is erecting a 125-metre condominium tower designed by Dialog Architects. The Charleson will soon add 269 units to the area with a nine-storey mid-rise building along Richards Street and a 43-storey tower featuring unique floor plates at the corner of Richards and Pacific Streets.

Indeed, the tower portion will only house 100 dwellings with a maximum of three units per floor, all boasting two to four bedrooms and ranging from 93 to 325 square metres in size. The 169 remaining residences will be located in the adjacent mid-rise building along with the rooftop amenities.

Apparently there are only 90 units now (they combined some into even larger units), of which 70 have sold.

When I was in the sale centre two months ago there was little left. The number of units seems to fluctuate as potential buyers negotiate etc. As I mentioned then, one buyer took the whole penthouse roof deck of the podium portion (there's a lower deck for common use).

^^^ Quoting Byron's post from the 1300-1320 Richard's Street thread. It includes (on the right side with the two yellow cranes) a nice overview of the Charleson podium and tower starting to take shape. The almost triangular shape of the Charleson tower is of course a result of a view cone, much like the Shangri La tower. You can see it in this site plan.

Here are some pics I took a week ago where you can see (in the second pic) the angle starting to appear on the north facade.

Not all that super original, but nice and crisp and upbeat, it seems.

It's a clean shape, but the color scheme will be exactly the same as all new towers. The renderings are pretty clear on that.
