They seem like they are making good progress on construction. I walked by it yesterday and noticed it already getting deep. Guess they decided to build the whole pit at once for both projects. Makes sense

Some pics from today. This hole is going to be huge by the time excavations for both projects bottom out.

Thank you for the updates! Are both projects by the same company?

I just find it interesting to watch how they both proceed. You can see the dividing line in the second and third pic. Blue fencing for the 1300-1320 Richards project. When both holes bottom out, one or the other has to go first with pouring their wall.

IIRC, this one is by Wall and The Charleson is by Onni. Someone should be able to correct me if I'm wrong, though.

I don't know if anyone can dig up a pic or not - but remember when Mondrian I and II and Metropolitan Towers were both excavated at the same time - leaving the alley on a narrow band of dirt supported high on both side by shotcrete walls?

This is correct.

I'm sure they are coordinating effectively, but one would imagine it would be easier to just tender out on excav contract and portion out the costs and then build your separate buildings.

I remember that very well. I used to get the willies driving down that alley at night knowing that there was a sheer drop on either side.

Excavation of 1300-1320 Richards (in the forefront of the above picture) should be going much deeper than the Charleston according to plans. This makes sense as 1300-1320 is a smaller property than the other development.

1300-1320 Richards is for 7 levels of parking
1396 Richards is for 4.5 levels of parking

The base for the crane is in. Does this mean it's finally in "under construction" status??

Looks like both excavations are bottoming out at the same level? Crane base now visible for 1300-1320 Richards.
