I really do like this building...except the cantilevered section over the entrance. It just does not fit with the rest of the building.

I think the concrete on the cantilevered overhang will be covered in spandrel - like the parts on the north end of the podium.
I wonder whether it will be light blue or dark blue though - I think dark would look better (not clash as much).

It already differs from the original model:

What's going on with that section at the bottom of the balconies facing Robson? Looks like shit. Is that not going to be a balcony? It's just exposed concrete with what looks to be shitty flashing

It seems to match the concrete band above the highest balcony.

Not really. The concrete band at the top isn't curved. The concrete at the bottom of the balconies look like all the other balconies. It sticks out. Oh well

From Retail Insider:
The spaces along Cambie look to be fairly large (and probably hard to lease facing the back of CBC)

Upscale retailer Charals to open on eastern Robson Street, Vancouver

Upscale shopping appears to be moving eastward on Vancouver's Robson Street, with the scheduled opening of luxury accessories retailer Charals. The 1,100 square foot store will open in the spring at 171 Robson Street, at the base of a hotel which is under construction.
...

Founded in 1986, Charals is an upscale Vancouver-based retailer of writing instruments, leathergoods and luggage. It carries such designer brands as Cartier, Montblanc, RIMOWA, Tumi, and others. This would be the second Charals location in Vancouver, following its long-time lease within Vancouver's upscale Sinclair Centre.

Pic by me today.
Glass is complete on the cantilevered part over the entrance.
It looks like plain clear glass.
Bottom balcony still missed its railing.

It was supposed to have achieved occupancy March 1st, but it must have been delayed...they're just pouring the sidewalks today. My guess would be April 1st.

Kinda disturbed that the painted concrete takes on the colour of dog poo when it rains...

That's precast, not painted concrete (i.e. the dye is worked into the concrete with precast panels).
It's a bit similar to the library in colour.

Do they still turn on those blue lights on the top of the building at night after completion? I hope they continue to do so...

Walked by today and it seems that they painted the concrete portions of the protruded part at the front entrance. Looks way better now.
