Can't see Vancouver being a one off on the perspective of the UFC. And I think City Council realizes that there is a lot of money that can be made. The sticking point, to me, is that UFC (this kind of combat sport) is not recognized with the province of BC, and thus creating insurance issues, etc. When tickets go on sale, Dana White and everyone associated with the UFC will be pretty surprised at how fast those tix will go. That UFC event in June 12, will be sold out, guaranteed, and it's gonna be a blast for the city, and its MMA fans. Can't see this being a failure, and most likely, Vancouver will be getting (from here on out) at least (like you say) an event once a year, maybe a few more times too

It will be Montreal, Vancouver, and sooner or later, Toronto's gonna get in on the act as well. UFC is HUGE in Canada, and it's going to succeed here in Vancouver (let's hope).
I've been a strong supporter for major sporting events (or pro teams) to come to Vancouver. Our city has so much to offer during the day, but at night, it gets pretty boring pretty fast. Having sports teams to call our own, and major sporting events that come to our city would give people in this town more options for entertainment
I'm glad the UFC is finally coming to Vancouver.
