The building was built to support the condo tower and the noise controls in the Duke Energy Building were completed for the condo tower, but it is on hold for now. Some say it is canceled, but if someone wanted to build it in the future, it is possible to build it.

I thought the shorter crane was taken down over the weekend? Thank you again for these updates! Please take an updated photo soon of this building and The Vue together in the skyline! It's great to watch these two take shape and impact the skyline. The Vue has a bigger than expected impact on the skyline!

The condo tower is canceled, as far as Wells Fargo developing it. The latest I've read says the plan is to sell the air rights to a condo developer after the housing and economic markets improve (the foundation is in place atop the back of the 6 floor Mint Museum).

The shorter crane was taken down this weekend. This is a quick shot I snapped on Friday - you can see part of the crane had already been removed. Also, you can see the Vue on the far right. It should top out somewhere around where the top of its cranes are located now. Also, you can see 1 Bank of America peeking into view. It will fill the gap between Bank of America corporate headquarters and the hexagon-shaped Bank of America Plaza.

That picture is amazing, this looks like a great addition to the skyline.

Yes, I went on a hardhat tour of the Hall of Fame Friday with the Chamber of Commerce and then lunch was served in the office tower. Pretty good views from up there!

So is the condo tower actually canceled or just on hold?

The shorter crane has been completely dismantled, and the two braces that were supporting the "handle" have been removed:

Not too much has changed. I would guess it will be kind of slow going now to finish all the details on the handle.

Nice to see some pics of the stone work here....The company I work for furnished and installed all the stone for this project. Almost 7000 pieces of stone just on the outside....The lobby also has stone floors and walls with some millwork. It's been a real good project for us so far. We had all the stone for the Mint/Condo project as well, but lost the kitchen and vanity tops when the condo was canceled. There will still be exterior stone on the condo pedestal that matches what's on the outside of the Duke building.

The pics posted here are great.

PS...We have the stone work on the Vue as well but not the tops in the units.

I can't wait to see the pics of this building when it lights up. Isn't it still going to have some funky lighting design down one side of the building? I thought I remember someone saying they tested it out earlier this year.

Yes. Here is a video from when they were first testing the lights, and I noticed last week that they do go up the entire building. It's tradition for buildings, including the crown on Bank of America, to light up blue when the Carolina Panthers have a home game at night, so I think this new tower is trying to one-up them.
