I wonder how there's going to be enough parking, with a store 4x the size eating up a good chunk of the existing lot. I don't see any underground parking in the picture.

It certainly wouldn't be the first to include underground parking, but I think you're right, I don't see any entrances for a parking garage in the illustration.

You guys should join me in my quest to somehow transform the pronunciation of Milestone's to the pronunciation that rhymes with "minestrone", the soup.

It sorta started as a small joke, but more and more people I know are saying it!

It'll be a revolution.

Hmm. It sounds like the IKEA will be shut down for a while. It would seem that the IKEA needs to move out before Sears can move into that space. Then the Corbeil will be moved. Only then can the old building be demolished and the new one built.

The out-buildings should not be affected.

I am interested to know what improvements they plan for the road network. And how they will get back the lost parking.

I'm not so sure that parking will be that big of a deal.. the times that I've been there the lot in front of Sears and Corbeil is pretty empty (as evidenced by your MS earth picture). The new Ikea building won't eat up too much of that space by the looks of it.

On the other hand, how often is that parking lot full? It seems that the other stores don't see nearly as much traffic as IKEA does.

The parking near Ikea is often full but the parking areas closest to the 417 and often a place for tumbleweed to gather (other than just before Christmas).

Interesting scenario of juggling stores that will have to go on.

There are two floors, but the footprint is twice the old store. That is how they are getting 4x the space.

IKEA owns the mall. They'd sooner shut Sears and Corbeil which has other branches in the city than shut down their only store which I estimate earns over half a million dollars on a good day. They wouldn't build one of their largest stores in this city if they didn't do that kind of business.

I suppose it will depend on contractual obligations. We will see what happens.

Just tried a new Greek restaurant named Kallisto that has opened in the last 10 days next to Giant Tiger and Farm Boy at Blossom Park. Very Good!

our IKEA is two levels with parking underneath

no parking loss that way
