Think of how long it takes for you to sit in a car dealership and lease a new Volvo for 12 months.
How long does that take? like?? 4 hours right? Okay, now think about all the stuff that needs to be done before they can even begin construction. They need to make all of the plans for the entire building to a meticulous degree, where do the pipes go? Where do the wires go? What types of materials are they using, Where are they buying them from? when are they available? How much do they cost to ship? How Long do they take to ship? How long does it take to make to spec pieces? What about all the guys that work there? Pay? Interviews? Finalizing contracts with dozens of contractors and hundreds of sub contractors? And don't forget the finance and insurance guys always bugging you to do this or that or add this safety feature or go with certain designs, which starts the whole process over again.
And all of that has to be planned and ready to go over a 2 year timeline to minimize interruption in work and keep your budget under control.
And that is just scratching the surface. I think you really fail to comprehend how much work goes into things.
