I saw that this morning - it's just a sticker they slapped onto the door.

No leasing agent touting the deal or anything...

The Richmond Centre location needs an expansion desperately. It could easily use two or three times the current floorplate size. The current store is absolutely claustrophobic and feels like you're in a rat-maze.

The Metrotown expansion was announced some time ago and was supposed to open 'Fall 2021'.. looks like that's delayed.

I hate going to the store in Richmond.. so hard to move around.

I wish we'd get a real 'flagship' here.. with the digital signs, etc. Toronto has 2, Montreal has 1... maybe Metrotown when renovated.

Ron.

Seems like it was announced in July so Fall seemed like an optimistic timeline

The second BC Cannabis store in Poco is open, it's about 5 minutes or less from their other location, by car.

Never quite sure of Sbux is retail or restaurant but it looks like they're opening the first new Vancouver store since all those closure. It will have a "walk-thru window":

Starbucks to open new Vancouver location with walk-up service window

...The Seattle-based company has put up signage at 502 W Broadway. This is a prime location for the brand as it’s situated right on the corner of W Broadway and Cambie, just steps away from Broadway-City Hall Station.

This sizeable new Starbucks will offer a walk-up service window and a total occupancy of around 65 people both inside and outside on a patio.
The patio is slated to accommodate 25 people....

I wonder if we'll see more of this in the wake of the pandemic, as we have with outside seating and liquor consumption in designated parks.

In high foot traffic locations like this, yes, while the suburbs get more drive-thrus. The Starbucks closest to VGH and St. Paul’s currently operate as purely pick-up window as far as I know, since they service so many at-risk or potentially exposed people.

DSW Designer ShoE Warehouse in Richmond is closing, sign says the closet store is Tsawwassen Mills. I think they only had two stores in the area. The Richmond location on the few times I have gone was usually pretty sparse for customers, perhaps the location was bad, other than the name it was pretty much exactly like the Shoe Company, another brand of theirs.

Would love to have one of those "walk-throughs" in Burquitlam/Lougheed Mall area. Would also love to have a T&T/FoodyWorld amongst other things. Hopefully with all the new developments more offerings will become available.

it's ridiculous, I could understand if it was a fee going to some level of government but it just goes to the restaurant.

Surrey banned plastic bags back in November, for a short while you could still get some but now nothing, most stores offer paper bags for 25 cents, or better reusable ones for up to $1. Even clothing stores and stores like bath & body works now charge 25 cents for a bag, does it really accomplish anything?

Paying for paper bags in this day and age sounds more like the store offloading the cost of the bags on the customer as opposed to absorbing the cost under "doing business". Plastic bags were free for as long as I've existed and paper bags before that were free from major stores, that I am aware of.
Also is it that much more green? You're going to need a TON more pulp from somewhere.

The idea behind assigned a cost to it is that people will think twice and bring reusable bags.

If you give something away for free, people will see zero value in it.
