On another topic, does anyone know what's happening to the old Dutch Growers lot? It had a SOLD sign on it for a while and now it's For Lease. I know there was that plan for Bloom or whatever it was called but what an eyesore it is just sitting in disrepair.
Seems like they’re leasing spaces in the Bloom development.

As for the building in the Greens I find it confusing…it seems like they’re selling the building and the listing mentions all units are gone except the retail spaces to be leased. But it also mentions it’s the first of 11 buildings in the development.

The City of Regina is expanding a transit route to service the east Aurora area, which includes Costco and Landmark Cinemas.
Starting on Aug. 28, the 50 Victoria Express route will extend east down Victoria Avenue, ending in Aurora.

Council doesn't care nor does the city. Admin actually recommended approval of the two lots on Scarth even though it went against the OCP. At the meeting, councilors talked about women needing that parking lot to feel safe walking to their vehicle after work, yet in the same convo talking about those same women going to Farmers Market or to get a coffee downtown. Can't have it both ways. Council wants to spend our federal transit money on a swimming pool instead of actually investing in transit which would align with the so-called renewable city/sustainability plan. We are a city for vehicles, not for people.

You should see the comments in that CBC article. Holy hell a lot of these folks would be happy to have downtown just only parking lots.

Conflict of interest much? She is such a terrible councilor.

I don't really agree with this. Municipalities have very limited powers. They can't impose income or sales taxes and have very restricted law making powers.

True, but they make the design decisions that affect how cities are laid out and what city services are available. That has an impact on day to day life.

Compared to issues like health care, national defense, criminal law, income and sales taxes, interest rate and monetary policy, transportation, environment, etc., it is pretty insignificant IMO.

Also many of the things within municipal jurisdiction are largely funded by other levels of Government who attach strings. This includes education and infrastructure.

Two ambulances and two police cars at the main public library once again today in Regina. The clientele standing around the doors watching, reminded me of when I lived in Hermosa Beach, California several years ago. Lots of face tattos and red clothing. Seemed like I was in Compton again. I really do not know the solution to this, but the homeless, criminals, ex criminals , pedophiles all use the Regina downtown library as a hangout throughout the day. Police have told me this to my face. But what is the solution? I have not idea.

The path that was added last year from 13th / Lewvan over to the 14th bike lane is handy except for 2 small details. 2 ramps lining up with 2 poles.

The city has pointless little square curbs between closely spaced ramps in numerous places around the city. This one is hungry for your car's diff and bumper.

I wonder if they have to do with property lines and having to separate them (regarding the bottom photo)? But yeah, looks silly.

Just talked to a construction worker at the SaskPower head office refurbishment project. He confirmed that the fountain is returning to the corner of Vic and Scarth. He says it was sent away for refurbishment.

The fountain appeared in the 2009 feature film Dolan's Cadillac based on the novel by Stephen King.

Glad to hear this.

On another note, I want more water features downtown (Victoria Park and also on Scarth Street Mall).

Whenever 'The Yards' comes to be, at the centre of it all should be a quality urban square with soft (green edges) and a water feature displayed in a prominent location.

Nah, would be much better (and more on brand) to have a gravel parking lot instead.

Shouldn't be long before traffic is moved over to the new Winnipeg Street bridge. I think that needs to happen before they can finish a few of the new ramps.
