City already has a soccer team in the Canadian Premier League. This league is actually doing pretty well in its infancy.

I'd rather put all my support in growing the all Canadian CPL.

I should have added that my desire to see an MLS franchise was in no way a slight to FC Edmonton or the CPL. Just was speaking in an aspirational sense while there is still a slim chance. That ship may have sailed now though as it looks like Vegas is the frontrunner for the 30th club with San Diego and Phoenix also in the mix according to this recent interview with MLS commissioner Don Garber.

Unfortunately a slump was bound to happen with the goaltending and blueline performing well above expectations early. Sure could use some secondary scoring though.

The Powerplay was performing at high levels and its possible teams have adapted to it as well. But overall the slump is significant and this six game home stand will be talked about at the end of the season as when Oilers lost their chance at the top spot in the division.

We have seen this before when the Oilers basically had to get out of town after a stinker run of loses

Not an Edmonton sports event but the Grey Cup has a few things Edmonton Grey Cup organizers should avoid -

like getting someone who can actually sing the national anthem - not the individual who tried yesterday.

Also a fly past by jets when its dark outside is a head scratcher.

the game was pretty good… the commentary and analysis so so at best other than talking about the weather and the wind more than what was happening on the field. the graphics were mickey mouse and really annoying with their timing and the replays consistently interfering with the game itself. i never watch the half time shows and the snippets I saw reminded me why. why hamilton gave up the rouge to give winnipeg a 3 point lead meaning a field goal would only give them a tie instead of the win still makes no sense to me (unless there are some ex-elks/eskimos coaches that were being consulted on the sidelines…

Sidney McGill racing for Pedalheads Race Room (the Pedalheads on 104st) finished 12 in Italy this past weekend. The Pedalheads logo is getting some nice optics in international media ass well.

is the glass half full? i'm not sure if goaltending is the solution/salvation but not having good, timely goaltending is certainly an insurmountable problem.

solving the goaltending problem won't solve the others (as koskinen rightfully noted, he can't score goals) but without solving the goaltending problem will solving the others will be immaterial.

Currently reading Messier's book 'No One Wins Alone'. I am of the opinion the he needs to fly up, hold a book club for a week and set things straight/in the right direction. Honestly, if folks on the team read even the first half of this book we would be a much better team.

It’s as leap of faith for fans to go from the stagger we’ve seen to the swagger Holland is talking about, and there’s no quick way to find out which way it’s going to go because of how COVID is forcing so many postponements of games. The game against the Senators Saturday is the Oilers’ only game in the next nine days. They face Florida Jan. 20.
