If I recall correctly, wasn't part of the growth in height of this building (from 650 to 730ft) due to FMC's plans to split into two companies?

At this point I would imagine they're still going ahead with the 730 foot plan. FMC has already signed a lease for the office space. It's probably too late now to reduce the height.

This OR Brandywine could play speculative with any open office space in the tower. Perhaps lure a law firm with an upcoming expiring lease?

When the split was announced it was also announced they would slightly increase their leased space in FMC tower. If the company split no longer happens it probably means they will go back to their original deal. There was no indication that the additional space had led to any change in the original building plan.

The economics and environment are right at the moment. Either way, my bet is the tower stays the same height.

They are starting to re-line the traffic and install barriers around the sidewalks for the site when I walked by today.

yeah, I saw that as well. The barrier is on both 30th and Walnut. I wonder if we won't be able to look down anymore as they close that area for pedestrian traffic.

Jersey barriers are indeed going up, so we won't be able to look down into the hole from the street, however, you will still be able to look down into it from the parking garage. So anyone heading over there to check out progress, just look down into the hole from the garage.

Was over at the SCHUYLKILL RIVER TRAIL and PARK enjoying the weather. Is there no public bathrooms over there? The ones by the kids swings and slides were closed.

There is a small bathroom directly south of Walnut Street on the trail. Also, further north, there are restrooms at Lloyd Hall by Boathouse Row.

Note that article states more than 500 employees will move to the new tower including, including some folks from Denmark....NICE!

Maybe the height difference could be related to how it is measured? There are two different "street" levels at that site. Maybe when measured from the lower level, it's 730 ft, but when taken from the lobby floor, which is higher, it's 650 ft.

No, because from ground level to the elevated street level is only 38 feet, not 80 feet.
