I just re- read it. Miller thompson is actually taking 48,000 square feet, so more like 2/3's of a floor.

So almost all of the office space is spoken for - and the large tenants eliminate the need for long hallways between multiple tenants.

I think that's right. Though the remaining 20,000 sq ft plus would be 3 floors in MNP, so not an insignificant amount.

True. TD Tower's floorplate is 16,000 sq ft.

Microsoft won't have 750 employees at Pacific Centre?

Microsoft's recently announced plan is to add 400 new employees to the 350 or so it already has in Yaletown, more than doubling its local workforce. Would it not make sense to consolidate its operations at a single location in Pacific Centre? Isn't that the plan?

I thought I saw a report that said the Microsoft operations would be kept separate, as the new one is purpose specific.
But even if it were combined, the ratio is still 2:1.

I find it remarkable how quickly this project is leasing up. The retail makes sense, as Nordstrom is a natural draw, the office portion is surprising to me. Is it the combination of high ceilings and large floor plates? It obviously wouldn't be the views.

i would guess it's the floor space, the fact that it's new so they can fully customize it and of course the location. standard office buildings in downtown struggles to hold 75-100 employees per floor. it's also a great opportunity for b2b networking

I would hasten to add that the views are probably pretty great. You have the law courts and Robson Square and around that a handsome array of office buildings and hotels. There are views up and down Robson st, albeit with a limited angle of view, plus along Granville Street with the same caveat. The fact that it is 'new' without the 'new building price tag' likely is a factor as well. The big, big deal are its location and 70,000 sq.ft. floorplates. Those are very few and far between in Metro Vancouver, much less the epicentre of downtown Vancouver.

Great people-watching block too. You'd feel right in the heart of the action.

Just hope the surroundings would be clean and professional-looking once the building is completed. Currently, especially over the weekends and at night, the surrounding streetscapes could be a real dump, and not unlike East Hastings (ok, I'm exaggerating, but just a tiny bit).

When you complain about literally everything, your opinion tends to nullify itself in the minds of others.

The Hotel Vancouver's not nice to look at? The Hotel Georgia? The Art Gallery? The Law Courts' roof garden? The Vancouver Block? There's just no pleasing some people.

Tell us what views would be considered 'sweet' to you then? New York City? Maybe Eiffel Tower? Or Mount Everest?
