A nice little tidbit from an Airline Observer interview with Mark Galardo, AC's Chief Commercial Officer - the first soft confirmation that I've seen that the XLR will indeed replace the 7M8 on YHZ-LHR.

Quote:
That means some long routes (like Toronto-to-Prague and Toronto-to-Budapest) will work fine in the summer. So will other thin routes that Air Canada plans, such as Halifax-to-London and Montreal-to-Edinburgh. The XLR will replace 737 Max 8s on both sectors.

Great news and inevitable at this point as all the MAX's are being transferred to Rouge eventually. Be great to have a proper business class with lie-flat pods to LHR. Looking forward to seeing the new XLR hard product.

Really appreciate your updates.

It'll be interesting to see if JetBlue renews its aborted intention to serve YHZ-BOS.

Thanks Saul. Much appreciated.

I was hoping JetBlue would announce again this past January but unfortunately no luck. I have read they are having financial issues at the moment so maybe it is not a good time for them.

I was just reading an article on thepointsguy.com that was stating Halifax’s US departures will be up 30% in the summer of 2026. This is amazing considering the current drop in US travel from Canada. Here’s the article.

We all know that these routes are added due to Americans wanting to head here to Vacation in the summer, and not the other way around...

Here is the Flight Connections February 2026 update:

Non-stop Routes by Airport:

https://www.flightconnections.com/

Once Halifax regional routes (Sydney, Charlottetown, Moncton, Fredericton) come back online this year, Halifax will be at 57 routes.
