2537 Tulane Development

Seeing the progress of 2424 Tulane and the new Nick's rendering got me wondering what was going on with the development in the 2500 block. I found the property flyer on the developer's website and it includes a rendering that I don't think has been posted on the forum.

https://feilorg.com/images/floorplan...ane_avenue.pdf

I really like the outdoor seating and I think it's an improvement over the old renderings released in late 2016, especially the suburban style hotel option. It would be a nice addition to that part of Tulane.

Looks like they still don't own 2 of the lots on the block, including where Fharmacy currently is, even though all of their renderings include those lots. I'm hoping the project is still moving forward and they aren't having trouble acquiring those 2 lots.

that site plan shows green space where the two lots they dont own are.. i really dont see any reason ownership of that lot or not would be a deal breaker for developing this parcel.. these newer renderings definitely look nicer than the other ones

ALso the new 5 story self storage facility on tulane has started construction.. its not an exciting use for sure but the building will surely look nice especially for the area its in near the courthouse

Gas Station at Valence and Freret

Received word that work is going on at the abandoned, grey old gas station at Valence and Freret- anyone know what is going on?

That is across the street from the new Rouses planned.

^ Anyone have a site plan for this? Looks like they are keeping that awful parking lot right off Basin St instead of bringing the building up toward the main street. Ugh. At the very least that should become a park...

the parking lot off basin is owned by another company not HANO.. so it will still be there but hopefully developed by the current owner

So I think they've started work again on the hotel at Canal and Claiborne?

Or am I making that up?
Also, The Praline Connection that took over CC's Coffee on Canal has closed. Hopefully, that becomes something soon.

someone bought the praline connection chain (the owners of willies chicken shacks i think) so no surprise they are changing direction of the brand to a touristy chain

What makes you think they have started construction on that hotel? just curious since I havent seen anything but i def want it to be

MEDIA ADVISORY CONVENTION CENTER BOULEVARD TO CLOSE BETWEEN CALLIOPE STREETS
Posted on February 5, 2019

Beginning 10 a.m. Friday, February 8th through 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12th Convention Center Boulevard will be closed between the river bound and lake bound lanes of Calliope Streets to erect the 75 foot steel beams that will support the canopy from the Transportation Center to the Convention Center over Convention Center Boulevard. Traffic will be re-routed to South Peters which remains two way between the two Calliope Streets.

The HOV lane will remain open during this period.

Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes and be aware of temporary directional signage in the area.

The new lanes of Convention Center Boulevard are expected to reopen sometime in July when construction will then shift to developing the 7.5 acre pedestrian park.

Also looks like that self storage proposal for the 800 block of magazine in the warehouse district has been canceled.. overall good news as thats just not anywhere near the highest and best use of such a prime location. Im sure if its canceled thats because something else is in the works there

1050 annunciation st

The building at 1050 Annunciation right next to 1100 Annunciation's site, by my place thats been semi gutted and stalled out for a few years as of today now has a logo'd construction fence around it and port-o-potty. Hopefully that means work will start back!
