@202_Cyclist: Please do not make assumptions. Could have easily been the passenger.

Fair enough-- I saw his previous post where he mentioned he was the passenger.

Still sitting under a mountain of unedited progress pics, but here are a couple for now:

This work is just for the escalator... Chances of this tower happening are slim to zero.
4th & Hill by Hunter, on Flickr

Looks like 5-OH isn't happening, we dodged a bullet with that underutilization.

I sure hope you're right. That lot is a prime skyline-filler, deserving of something of equal or greater value to the original Park Fifth project.

MACFARLANE PARTNERS PROJECT: The long-awaited project just north of Pershing Square is slated to begin the first phase of construction by July, according to Jeff Barris, the director of development for Macfarlane Partners. The two-phase project on Fifth between Olive and Hill streets will create a total of 660 apartments in seven- and 24-story buildings. Barris said the first building, the mid-rise, will have 313 units, 7,500 square feet of retail and a 140-by-170-foot courtyard two stories above ground level. Construction is expected to take 28 months. The high-rise, which Barris anticipates will break ground later this year, will contain 347 residences and take 26 months to build.

^ whether that proj does go forward or not, your excellent pics really do show just how desolate.....how much of a major gap.....the NE corner of 5th St & Olive really is & has long been.

Parking lots are unappealing regardless of circumstances or time of day. But when they're mostly empty, with ppl not even needing them for storing their cars, they seem that much more of a dead weight to a surrounding area.

A friend of mine who works in the Library Tower got some sort of pre-opening tour (day and night) of the Skyspace (including a visit to the roof). He took some photos with his phone. I'm extremely excited about finally going to the top of this beast!

You can look on top of the Wilshire Grand Center.

That's what I call an observation deck.

Thank you for the pictures.

Not so much for the slide, but being on the top of this building with such panoramas, I could literally unfold a chair and sit there for the entire day, just gazing. You lucky devil, you

Another small 100 year old building DTLA will be transformed into Modern Times Brewery location (San Diego Based company).

I received this tweet today from Modern Times:

Can't wait to turn this 100 year old building in DTLA into a gorgeous pilot brewery, restaurant, & cafe. It'll be worth the wait, promise

Yes, that's why I was asking. I didn't see anything on Saturday (when I took my picture).

Thanks.

We've talked about this a bit. This little building will be sandwiched between Level and the new 50 story Onni. The construction there for the next couple years can't be ideal for a new business. Especially when another high profile brew pub - Mikkeller - is opening two blocks away on Olympic.

Ten50's first round of sales exceeded expectations. Great news for DTLA.
