I actually really like what they are planning to do with the property. One more project in The Granery!

Haha yup

https://citizenportal.slcgov.com/Cit...howInspection=

Address: 741 S 400 W

Project Description (from developer):
Pickle & Hide is a mixed-use development located at 741 400 West. The project is envisioned as a live/work/ play hub, promoting an active lifestyle and celebrating the creative history of the Granary District. A diverse mix of apartments, commercial space, and ground floor neighborhood-focused retail is provided throughout the site. A pedestrian connection lined with green space and patios is proposed throughout the site which is in alignment with the Mid-Block Walkway Master Plan, reinforcing Pickle & Hide as a destination within the existing neighborhood.
The buildings share a parking garage located at the Northeast corner of the site, screening it from the street. Studios, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom apartments are planned around outdoor private terraces. Additionally, office space will have private and public terraces. A walkable ground floor retail experience and 15,000 sf of programmable, privately owned public space will bring life to the street level. Activating the rooftops will encourage outdoor living and working, bringing life above the 400 West frontage.
The building materials composed of brick masonry establish a base that relates to surrounding context and metal panels above build upon the industrial character of the neighborhood. The North Building (Hide) has a slightly different material strategy than the South Building (Pickle) to provide diversity along the primary street frontage.
The building forms have subtle movement to provide interest above the pedestrian level. The new construction is set back from the existing buildings to celebrate the history of the buildings, provide green space and patios along the building frontage, and invite pedestrian activity to the site.

If you look at the level 1 floor plan, you will see that this proposed project will have 17,058 square feet of retail between the two buildings, 50,363 square feet of office space, and 137 residential units. So very much a mixed-use project.

This is Great. Thought I'd seen on here a few pages back that the U had bought it from Blaser/Industry?? If so I'd expect this is take a while to get cooking. We've seen this site change hands a half dozen times with various renderings. Love the adaptive reuse components!

Not to add to the noise to an already noise situation but Silicon Valley Bank's collapse has some very wide spread implications for Utah. Tech collapse has started in force. Zions name keeps popping up in news reports. Buckle up.

Is there any update on the Greektown development? I was really excited for that one to take off… Also did the Japantown street ever finish its refurbishments?

Yeah, may get bumpy for a while, tech is infamously lumpy with boom and bust cycles. Take the bad with the good.

The Last of Us really altered Salt Lake's skyline. They moved the area around the Wells Fargo to the north of the skyline and then added a random building:

And not having any Temple at all is an odd choice.

The temple is there, it’s under scaffolding like it is in reality right now. My guess is whoever the production designer was (or possibly the VFX team) either didn’t realize that was the temple or just didn’t care. It’s certainly an odd choice, seeing as how it was featured in the original game apparently.

Also Comrade, that random building is actually 99 West minus its crown.

Again a reminder: no spoilers on this forum, please.

Edit:
Upon closer inspection, everything north of the COB is a skyline view from northwest of temple square looking southeast. The VFX compositor realized that 99 West was already in frame, and so chopped off the crown to make it appear different enough. The Marriott hotel is also altered for similar reasons, that building is composited closer to the camera position.

I did appreciate that most of the buildings they copied and pasted and moved around to make a more interesting skyline were our own buildings, just...on shuffle.

Sorry to get back so late. Here's an album of the February photos.
January.
December.
November.

Can't guarantee the order is exact because their file names were wack.

On a related note, it's looking like the Unico data center adaptive reuse project is dead. The parcel is for sale. No confirmation on the city portal yet.

Hey, this may be a dooms day view of our city, but at lease that huge parking lot is a green space now!

I'm all for that. And for building a few more high-rises along the north side of North Temple.

As soon as that IHC hospital goes into the Sears block you are going to see a massive amount of demand for medical office in the vicinity -- physician groups, radiology, obgyn and other specialists.
