Web cams

Anyone have any good Denver construction webcams they'd be willing to share? When I need a break at the office I typically run through the 3 that I have saved.

http://www.flydenver.com/ConstructionCam

http://oxblue.com/open/Triangle

http://oxblue.com/open/1601Wewatta

Anything would be appreciated!

Bunt or someone who would know more about this question: How do the burbs compete against one another for development? For example, do you know why did Charles Schwab choose Lone Tree over the DTC or Meridian?

Some development news:

* Fencing was going up today around the Confluence Park Tower site.

* A building permit application has been submitted for the apartment project planned at the old United Way Headquarters site.

* A building permit has been submitted for the Skyhouse Denver project.

Boo! I'd be willing to bring down the entire local development industry 2009-style to stop this one. Okay maybe not that far. But the absolute best condo site in the city, and it's about to go to waste. All they have to do is wait until January, Republicans take over the state legislature in November, and away we go.

I wouldn't bemoan it just yet buntie. The construction fence doesnt go all the way around the property. Doesn't mean that construction isn't somewhat imminent but I think for now they might have done it to just block access to the parking lot.

Dude, you really think that's going to happen? Seems like the GOP might have shot itself in the foot with the sheenanigans in JeffCo. Of course, the conservatives might come out in droves to protest teh gays being able to marry like everyone else.

If it does happen (and ol' Bob ends up sitting in the governor's mansion), I look forward to the Brownback experiment coming to Colorado and the complete destruction of the state government over the next 2-4 years.

I think Hick survives, but I do think the state legislature goes to the GOP. There's a general district like of the hard left approach the Dems have taken out here in the burbs that might not be fully apparent within a one mile radius of downtown Denver. Also, social issues are the only thing that has kept the state blue at all. The more the courts handle those, and the state legislature becomes less critical, the more likely we are to shift back to the conservative side. Because economically, we're still a conservative state.

According to Colorado Pols, the Dems have a 55% chance of holding the state Senate and a 75% chance of holding the state House.

Sure, but the social issues are still a huge issue, even though gay marriage has been off the table in Colorado this election. Instead, we've got personhood, woman's rights, immigration, and education (just added). JeffCo is PISSED at the overreach by the GOP majority on the school board that's not appreciated by anyone who does most of their business in the environs of Douglas, Arapahoe, and Weld Counties and I think that this eliminates any chance the GOP had of picking up the legislature. The GOP is basically taking the stance that only the opinions of the middle and old-aged white male matters and that election strategy is just about tapped out.

When you've got the teachers, the parents, the kids, the AAUW, and the PTA (who's leadership is currently GOP) angry at you then you might have screwed things up for everyone else on your ticket.

This issue is a total red herring that dems use to scare voters. Granted, it works, but all of these things are so clearly unconstitutional that they have no practical impact in the real world. Just because it's my side doesn't make it okay to use bs scare tactics. Personhood is a lefty equivalent of "they are taking my guns."

Given that this nearly exclusively a federal issue, I don't see how it has major influence at the state level. Except again as a scare tactic - the GOP hates brown people. Maybe it works, but there are equivalents the other direction too. I don't see it as a game changer issue.

We'll see. I don't think this will wind up to be a big issue either. If they can muster a recall election, that would keep it on the radar and escalate it. But these people did get elected, and by and large they are doing what they said they would. So there's a large, albeit quiet, contingent out there that supports what's going on. Also, teachers whining and a bunch of high schools kids complaining isn't exactly news. I don't think it has the shock effect for voters you seem to think it does.
