Probably the most exciting project in the entire Lower Mainland, can't wait to see what Gilmore Place is going to offer

This area will definitely be the most interesting neighborhood for construction fiends. Between Solo, Brentwood, Gilmore and the Concord lands this place will be insane.

It is indeed crazy. The area is basically one large construction site.

Also, don't forget the one off developments like Milano, The Dawson, Porte, Escala, Triomphe, Seasons, and Etoile. The number of cranes in the area could top twenty by next year.

The area is going to be beautiful with all these glistening new towers. Ten years from now the area will be unrecognizable.

It was this development at Brentwood that made me purchase close by. I live ten minutes away so I could not leave what was happening in the area. Living close to three of the five tallest buildings (Brentwood and Gilmore Place) in the province was far too good to pass up for a skyscraper fan like myself.

Good stuff!I just hope that in addition to the high rises, that the district will have that "big city buzz" to go with it.

This thing is MASSIVE!

I can't wait to see how they'll make that overhang part (as seen in this photo, far left)

EDIT: From many of the construction photos on this forum, I've seen that they have built pillars inside of the "stacked cubes" where the overhang ends.

That render is very impressive. I only wish they had put a giant roof over the plaza akin to Berlin's Sony Center. It'd be great if that space could be used year-round.

I'm thinking not just any old roof but a transparent one to let the light in during sunny days.

ghost of Brentwood?

In the render, I see in the distance what seem the curving qhite roofs of the Brentwood Mall. Is that remaining permanently, or is it like that just at this phase of the development? Thx

It shows up in the beginning of their youtube video so it looks to be remaining permanently.

Yes, that's why I mentioned something like the roof on the Sony Center in Berlin. It has transparent and translucent sections.

The place is also very animated at night:

The main promenade in City of Lougheed has some type of cover on top. Can they do something similar.? Even the transit plaza in C of L has some type of overhead I think.
Hope I am right.... Don't really study render in detail

I used to e-mail one of the city people and mentioned about how we need some sort of shelter, that it rains here a lot, etc. Brentwood was already too far along in the approval process to do anything about it. Thankfully Lougheed is not the exact same plan, although of course we can see similarities.

E-mail the mayors office (it'll be forwarded it to the right person) and tell them to be sure it's included in new developments. Include picture links for inspiration. As long as you're not over the top they'll prob enjoy your e-mail.

Even in Europe they use oppressive amounts of green glass.
