What's going in the (under construction) storefront on the upper floor opposite the Hugo Boss?

I am not with you. Are you referring to the ceiling of the former 'Elephant' in the Rideau centre? I know that they have demolished inside the pub. When I saw the completion of the Rideau Centre expansion on YouTube nearly two years ago, it appeared that the LRT station is probably going where the former pub was. I am, however, not sure. Did you ever eat at the 'Elephant' pub before? How was it?

Question LCBO store

So they will be closing down the old LCBO store and relocating it somewhere else. Didn't you not mention that the Shopper's Drug Mart and the LCBO are suppose to be where the old food court was? I walked at the Rideau Centre on Monday and it still does not say what the former food court, cinemas, and the 'Elephant' pub are going to become in the future. Will 'GoodLife" Fitness be located where the former cinemas were? The reason which I am asking that question because a woman in my church told me that they were going to include a spa and some massage therapy in the section of the former cinemas. Did you hear anything about that?

The Rideau Centre renovations are mentioned on the Goodlife website for this location, which also states that "some areas of our Club will be effected". I doubt GoodLife would move since I can't see the existing space being attractive to many other tenants. The space is large, entirely below grade and only has a single entrance. This space has been a gym for > 20 years.

Yes, next to the new shoppers at the old food court where all the white walls are up.

I remember that 20 years ago that there was a swimming pool on the ground floor of Good Life fitness, but I do not think that there is one anymore. I see exercise machines downstairs. I do not even know whether people used the pool at all unless they used it for saunas or exercise classes. I never go to Good Life fitness, because there are too many people. I prefer to do exercises on my own.

Question Closure of old LCBO and Shopper's Drug Mart

Do you know when they are going to close down the old LCBO and Shoppers Drug Mart? I walked inside the Rideau Centre today and I still see plain white walls covering the old food court. Usually on the white walls, there will be a sign saying 'Shoppers Drug Mart' and 'LCBO' opening soon. They have also closed down on the ground floor 'Sports Expert' which was once 'Jacob's'. Do you by chance have a list of the shops coming soon at the Rideau Centre? If you do, I will like to see it.

I also heard from my LCBO contact that Richtree (Movenpick, Marchelino, whatever it's called these days) is negotiating to take over the space vacated by the old shoppers and old lcbo. It would be great to have them back with a larger new format Richtree Natural Market there!

Lightbulb Locations of shops

I did check under rideaucentre.net and clicked the redevelopment button and I saw an updated version of events when shops will open. It was updated on the 7th of this month. The LCBO is probably going where Jacob's was once located. The Shoppers Drug Mart will be where the old food court was. Key West will be situated on the 2nd level where Visage once was. Stuart Weitzman and Occitane are going to be in the section where the former Town Shoes was once located. I have heard that Stuart Weitzman will open in October. Is the Freshly Squeezed going to be in the section where Richtree once was. They said that they were opening soon. Do you know exactly what dates these shops will open? The Rideau Centre still has not mentioned what will become of the former cinemas. I know, for sure; they will not be movie theatres again. Do you by chance know what the former cinemas are going to be in the future? Are the ticket offices for the LRT also going to be located where the old food court once stood? I do not know how they can fit a Shoppers Drug Mart and a ticket office in a space where the old food court was situated. Shoppers Drug Mart usually tends to be big in size. The food court did not look that big to me. When I watched the Rideau Centre expansion on YouTube dated September 2013, wasn't the H&M store going to be situated where the old Shoppers Drug Mart is? When I went out on the roof terrace, it looked like the expansion is attached to the former Rideau Centre cinemas. The Simon's store is not going in the section where the cinemas once stood.

Question Which bridge

Is the bridge which you showed us in the photos, the one which is going to be demolished?

Yes, you can tell by the proximity to Chapters. You can just make out the tops of the Chapters and Starbucks logos in the picture where the bridge is still standing.

Thanks for the pics, RobOttawa!

From the renderings it looked like they originally wanted an Earls. That would've been nice.

I drove past there last night. It looked so weird without the bridge. The street looks so open. It'll take some getting used to.

Hopefully the new ugly patch on the Bay building will be gone soon

I'm pretty sure an Earl's is supposed to go in that space as well, though its quite a large space so maybe they can fit both.

I'm interested to see how they fix the hole in The Bay.

Hopefully they fill the hole in The Bay with glass. It would make more sense and would add much needed sunlight in the building. I fear if they try to fill it with another stone, it won't be the same and will look like an ugly patch job (a-la bank building on Wellington).

Angry earls and bridge

Where are they going to put Earl's? Will it be near where the old food court once was? Is it a pub? I always thought that they should put a pub where the old cinemas were because so people eat out in the patio on the roof terrace in the summer. You at least will have a nice view of the Parliament buildings and the city of Ottawa from the roof terrace. I saw that they demolished the bridge. It was about time. It looked like an eyesore. One pedestrian bridge is enough. It was not even a nice-looking bridge anyway.
