Feast Restaurant out of West Vancouver was supposed to go in there but negotiations collapsed.

Luke's Corner Kitchen at Granville and 13th closed, I guess they waited until office party season was over. Nothing has worked there since Bread Garden. As I was looking in a passerby said it was going to be condos, but I don't know if she was being facetious or had real info.

The Starbucks on Main across from the JJ Bean has been closed for a while, looks like they're joining up both units.

The Starbucks at English Bay has recently reopened with a pretty cool renovation as well. They seem to be moving in a more upscale design direction.

Wow shocked to be down at English Bay today and see The Milestones is closed and the space for lease! That was an institution. Great to see CARA continuing its time honoured tradition of screwing up every restaurant chain they buy!

Also noticed the doors to Relish on Davie were padlocked, never a good sign.

That's too bad, I really liked their burgers. But the space was too big and being in the Alexandra, likely too expensive.

From what I've heard it was a lease issue with the landlord as opposed to lacking in sales.

I worked there for a couple months this summer. Their lease was coming up and the landlord wanted to raise the rent to some unreasonable amount. On top of that, the building is slated to be sold and likely torn down. Wasn't worth it for them so they decided to shut it down.
Employees got letters saying that "due to economic reasons" we would all lose our jobs at the end of October. Lots of employees will be shuffled around to other locations though.

The 2 new downtown Boston Pizza franchises are for sale:

(or were they opened as corporate stores and now being sold as franchises?)

The write-up says they are profitable.

They are both operated by the infamous Donnelly Group. The Stadium BP is by far the worst service I have ever had at any restaurant anywhere...twice. Glad to see them being sold and a hopefully better management put in.

That's peculiar. It seemed to always be busy and the food was great. Although the way the interior was never really fitted out it seemed like the building was gonna be redeveloped. Moving perhaps?
