Here are some pics from Oquirrh Lake at Daybreak today. These are from the North end of the lake and is part of the more recent developments.

Sundance contributed $92 million to economy this year - Utah » The festival also created 2,000 jobs.

http://www.sltrib.com/business/ci_12613576

The recession's impacts were not reflected in the performance of the Sundance Film Festival, which earlier this year generated $92.1 million for the state's economy.

Citing an economic analysis prepared by the University of Utah's Bureau of Economic and Business Research, the Sundance Institute said Wednesday that the festival also created 2,000 jobs and contributed almost $4 million to state and local government tax coffers...

It is the middle of June and there is still snow in the mountains?

Very beautiful and scenic photos. Thank you for sharing.

Will the development around Oquirrh Lake just be single family dwellings?

New, modest Proscenium does not include Broadway theater

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...roscenium.html

SANDY — The Proscenium development is moving forward with plans for a small sales office but the master developer said a theater, if built, could be just big enough for regional plays and events...

It will be mixed. There are some 2-3 story office buildings around the lake as well.

I am also glad the Proscenium Broadway sized theater died an ignominious death. I think most of us on the forum knew it would eventually come to this. I am happy to see that they are going to move forward with a smaller community theater though.

Holy heck! Lightning blasts Angel Moroni at new temple
The Salt Lake Tribune

Quote:
Lightning has struck the Angel Moroni statue atop the LDS Church's new Oquirrh Mountain Temple in South Jordan.
"A work crew will re-gild the statue as soon as possible," church spokesman Scott Trotter said Monday.
The gold-leaf sculpture, 10-feet 6-inches tall, was singed Saturday.
But such acts of nature are not unheard of. Lightning hit the Moroni on American Fork's Timpanogos Temple and on the Dallas Temple. The then-angel-less spire of the Provo Temple once set off a fire alarm after drawing a lightning bolt.

"Thursday night, the Sandy Planning Commission approved the site plan for a temporary sales office. The three-story model home will be placed on top of a landscaped parking garage near 10100 South Centennial Parkway.
The building could go up as soon as August, said project architect Russell Platt. The structure could stand for three years."

I'm going to have to check out that model home once it's up.

I was always a fan of this project, but I was never really sure about the theater part. But I'm glad to hear that this project is still moving forward. Won't be a bad project with housing, office and retail space added to the area.

New Proscenium Tower Rendering

A thirty-story tower rises above the performing arts center and contains premium office space, residential condominiums, and an upscale hotel. In subsequent phases, an arts oriented retail mall and two additional office and residential towers will be added to the project. The entire project is designed in accordance with the principles of sustainability and will derive a portion of its energy requirements from wind turbines and photovoltaic panels.

The larger theater in Sandy never made sense to me at this juncture. However, I think a smaller theater, oreinted toward family type productions would be an excellent addition over the next five years. Down the road though, as that metro area continues to boom there's no doubt that many additional amenities will be built.

It's to bad they picked that Architect. He's a total jackass. That just confirmed to me that this is a Mickey Mouse development. Expect a half assed tower.
