Perspective. It's at 450m right now, I believe, so it's got another 40m+ before it takes over the SWFC.

giallo, I've always loved your Shanghai photos- excellent as usual. I was curious about your gear, and went digging into your exif thinking for sure you had the Tokina 11-16 2.8.. those rainbow flares look identical to what I see on mine. But now I'm jealous of your 14-24 and D800 combo. It's my dream setup. Sorry for the off-topic, folks. Carry on!

Awesome pics. I don't know what else to say. The skyline is killer. The chaos of this insane growing city would probably give me heart palpitations though.

Two aerials of the Shanghai Tower (and half of central Puxi) from last month.

Sweet shots. How is the air quality currently in Shanghai? The Economist just did a piece on the issue regarding Beijing (with a bit on Shanghai).

The city of Shanghai is just one HUGE skyline. The tower itself is growing at an unprecedented pace.

The air quality this winter in Shanghai has been awful. The worst in my seven winters here by far. I'm not sure why it's so polluted this particular season compared to others, but it's really, really bad.

NYC4Life, yeah, pretty much. Lujiazui is the one conventional skyline within a giant one that stretches well over 15 kilometres.

To be honest I haven't found the air to be that bad. There's been a few pretty ugly days (last Wednesday, for one) but it hasn't been that much worse than previous winters, IMO.

I'm a bicycle commuter, riding 48km round trip almost every day, and I haven't found the air bothers my eyes or my throat, so it can't be that bad.

^Interesting.

I, as well as friends, have been having problems with itchy eyes, noses and throats. The air this year smells far more chemical-y than previous years. I also can't remember any other year with as many air quality index ratings in the 200-300 range.
I could be wrong, and this winter rates about average, but honestly, just look outside now, the air quality is deplorable.
The worst part for me is that I have a deadline to shoot a building's exterior, and besides that one clear day last week, I haven't been able to do it due to the constant, thick smog that's engulfed the city.

I don't know. I just never remember it being this bad.

I can't remember the weather in June, but normally it's really clear from June-October because of the many storms blowing through east Asia. Oddly, this last summer had the largest number of super clear days since I've lived here. We had a 10 day stretch of pure blue skies. You could even see the stars at night in certain parts of the city.

I agree about the pollution this year. I am fighting constant sinus infections here in Nanjing. The air has just been absolutely HORRIBLE. I can't see more than 500m some days. This is the worst I've seen. This winter's air just sucks. Thank God I'm not in Beijing.

I think you guys in Shanghai still have it better than Nanjing, though. I'll let you know when I move there in a month.

This is my first post on this place, but I can see that over half of the building is concreted without glass. Why?
