I don't like the Omni Nashville but I'll still take that design over the New Orleans proposed Omni.

Come on, do better!

Very interesting to see more activity on canal street. Where those plans submitted to the city? Is that another Motwani owned property?

interestingly enough the ddd facilitated this deal with all the owners to utilize their upper floors together and they will all maintain full control of their bottom floors.. nice to see government when its helpful for a change..also if you read the diagram it actually lists the owners of each building ( 3 different ones)

BTW with this crane up that makes 8 cranes (canal crossing, 2 at hard rock, the julia, the odeon, canopy of peace, the higgins, residence inn) downtown right now!

Also good to see Blue Bikes are expanding there coverage area considerably.. be sure to vote soon if theres a hub location you like if you live or work in these areas

In other cities, there is a recognition that light-rail/transit expansion along a corridor can spur dense, transit-oriented development along the the route (if zoning co-operates).

Has the Rampart streetcar spurred new developments? I suspect New Orleans is unique here...

Seems like it has along loyola and rampart.. but development follows the zoning

This will be interesting to see when the plans are posted! glad to see another surface parking lot is going!
Ugh, that is such a prime lot for a large residential or hotel development. Another storage facility would be a waste. There aren't many opportunities left that get much better than Magazine Street between Julia and the Museums.

CityBusiness reports that the Bella Ridge apartments phase 2 is starting construction adjacent to Elmwood. Should complement the Elmwood refresh and Avondale redevelopment nicely. According to this document, this phase will be 240 units.

my guess is he will build these to easily be retrofitted to apartments if they want them... at least we have ground floor retail

Yeah as someone who lives over here this does not make any sense.

What’s driving this sudden influx of storage facilities. I’ve lost count of the number of sites under construction that I’ve randomly encountered.

Hey everyone I was just wondering if anyone heard of or knows about New Orleans and Louisiana’s bid to lure Apple’s HQ2 or one of Google’s new offices? I read on Forbes that both Apple and Google were waiting on Amazon to announce its HQ2 selection. I also remember in September reading about the sit down at Tulane with Michael Hecht and DXC technology’s New Orleans center General Manger, and the article spoke on New Orleans being spoke about in these meetings between these large companies. So are we aggressively pursuing Apple and Google and if so do we have any local developers who are planing office space developments to house these types of major companies

Here is the article I’m referencing from:
