There's a rebar column sitting on the sidewalk in the pic you posted. Might be in place by now.

From Lincoln - rebar in the pit. But I don't see a vertical column yet.

As an Austinite who appreciates beautiful architecture and tall buildings this soon to be behemoth on the skyline is a stepping stone to greater things. Its the not the perfect building in my eyes but it opens up a possibility for a supertall that defines our skyline.

Maybe that's it in the photo... just laying on its side?

A couple of concrete trucks were flowing when I walked by a couple hours ago. I asked when the crane goes up and was told "later this month". Cool.

Both cranes are scheduled to go up between Thursday 04/02 and Sunday 04/05.

Edit: Here's another permit for the installation of "two tower cranes" for 03/26 through 03/29. I think they mean one crane goes up the last weekend of March and one goes up the first weekend in April.

At least we can see where the two cranes are going. I'm really, really glad that there is no hotel component. Big hotels and projects with a large hotel component just ain't gonna happen for a long time.

The first crane base was installed. That looks like an unusually large crane base.

Hahaha, what the heck is that. That looks like someone took a picture of a crane base and stretched it out to twice the size.

That is a crazy big crane base but considering how high its gonna go and how long it's going to be up, my guess is it's going to be a robust sturdy crane.

It will also be attached to the building at several points.

All the Super Tall crane towers in New York are rectangles. I am guessing this one is being built to withstand a tropical storm if it hits Austin. Or perhaps we are just seeing the very base that is much larger than the main tower of what the crane will be.

The second crane base is in as well. It's down in the pit and is at an interesting angle that implies it will run up the capital view corridor face.

The first crane was scheduled to start going up today. Did anyone notice if that happened? Construction sites have until Friday to shutdown based on the current Stay at Home Order. But there is a lobbying effort to allow construction to continue. Apparently projects in DFW and Houston are not part of their City/County orders. I also noticed that some projects are still requesting late hours cement pouring for after Friday like 44 East and Hanover Republic square.

Other cities are allowing construction. Austin should do the same, just my opinion though.
