Regardless of how steep it is, it is still a long way around. You are almost at the 5 minute mark when you reach Riverside Dr. I know circles are approximate, but at least have a reasonable route to get there.
This unofficial route is shorter than the sidewalk around the other side of Post Office. Until, they build a direct route across the station, improving this path so it is official will save pedestrians time and make the Trainyards a little easier to reach from the Confederation Line.

Good Day. FYI:

The www.stage2lrt.ca website 'Resources' page has been re-organized and cleaned up a bit....
Looks like they are preparing it for the announcements and next round of plans and updates (I hope !).

Cross-posted.

Council agendas come out Friday afternoons IIRC... Major reports sometimes have a placeholder and are only tabled at the meeting along with a staff presentation. Depends if they are expected to decide next week or just have an overview and decide at the following meeting.

Anyone else less-than-excited to peruse this site now that phase 1 is potentially a disaster? Let's say that phase 1 is delayed another year; do you think they will just start construction on Phase 2 regardless?

My enthusiasm has diminished greatly over the last year. The year delay in awarding the Stage 2 contracts hasn't helped my shaken faith in the project.

My biggest concern is the Province's hold-out on their part of the funding. That more than anything could blow the entire Stage 2 project. Even if we were to convince the Feds to maintain their funding, we could still face a year's delay figuring out what to cut (it's logical to me, but the City will drag it's feet as they've done with everything LRT) and having the bidders modify their proposals.

As for the Stage 1, delays are concerning, but by the time Stage 2 opens, those issues should be resolved. The issues with Stage 1 rolling stock and testing shouldn't effect Stage 2 construction. The City might see it differently. We know Watson plans on starting the Trillium project this spring, should funding be available.

I really don't think we will see a full year of additional delays for Stage 1. IMHO, the absolute worst case would be 6 months, and even that is a stretch. Two to three months are most probable.

Edit: Rereading your post, I am now wondering if by Phase 1, you mean Stage 2 South? I assumed you meant Stage 1. Stage 2 South could easily be delayed by a year, but delays in it won't affect construction of Stage 2 East (Phase 2?) though it could affect Stage 2 West (Phase 3?).

I question whether Phase 2 of the Trillium Line can be delayed a year without impacting the 2021 opening.

It may be true that the current route won't close until May 2020 but there is a lot of work to build the new extension that will likely need to be started this year in order to be ready by September 2021. That is less than 3 construction seasons for some major work involving several new grade separations.

If the existing portion of the line is completed before the extension it is entirely feasible that it could reopen and provide the same existing service while the extension is completed. Similar to how after the passing tracks were added a few years ago, normal service continued while the upgrade was being completed.

I get that the city isn't a fan of partial openings on the Confederation Line because of liabilities that get carried over after handovers, but the Trillium Line is... a different story right?

Why would they delay Trillium's construction by a year?

If we lose provincial funding, the best option would be an extension to Lincoln Fields, and cut the Orleans extension. Maybe even extend the west terminus to Moodie, as it's entirely possible to keep the Baseline-Lincoln Fields section of Transitway alongside the train tracks.

Will us regular folk have access to a live-feed or is the briefing for media, politicians and VIPs only?
