That wouldn't be popular! The last thing Vashon wants is to become a regular suburb.

51-story, 1,200-room hotel planned for the Greyhound terminal block according to DPD. 100,000 sf of convention/meeting space. The owner, Hedreen, has been successful with multiple past towers and the underway Olive 8 project a block away.

Cool. Is there a link to the DPD page?

This isn't on the typical DPD report yet, and can't be found via search. In fact, there's still a slight lack of certainty in my head for those reasons. But here's the link someone else provided: http://web1.seattle.gov/DPD/permitst...99&3008449&t=4

Sheesh, the Building codes there sure do seem strict.

Awesome news! From the DPD site it looks like the application may not be complete yet. The easiest way to find the permits is to search on the address - 811 Stewart St.

I was walking by the bus station today - can't wait to see it go!

A search based on address didn't work either this morning. I think the search function is based on the bi-weekly reports.

As for the station, even during my 8,000 mile bus ride in 1987, Seattle's terminal was a candidate for worst among the dozens I visited.

The DPD site is really confusing. You're right that the search from the Land Use Notice section only returns projects that have been in the bi-weekly report.

To find what permits have been filed you can go to the DPD homepage:

http://www.seattle.gov/dpd/

Under "Check Status" you can enter specific permit or project numbers or do an address search. The two project numbers for the EDG application are 3008442 and 3008299.

Here's the full link to one of them:

http://web1.seattle.gov/DPD/permitst...spx?id=3008442

Supposedly Geryhound is planning on moving the terminal to their maintenance facility a few block away according to a P-I article.

I was hoping they'd find a new location near King Street Station, but I'm still glad to hear that the existing terminal will be redeveloped.

There have been proposals in the past to move Greyhound to the King Street Station. It seems the most logical thing to do.

Is this 51 story hotel 1,200 a done deal or are there still many obstables? This would be great for the Denny/REI area.

This far out, every project has a shaky idea what it will cost, a shaky idea what sort of revenue and operating expenses to expect, a shaky idea of financing costs, and a shaky idea of the schedule. Those are the biggest obstacles around.

They appear to be within the 500' height limit, so no issue there, though they presumably have to pay the big extra height fees. I believe hotels are subject to FAR just like offices (unlike residential in some areas), but they have at least 80% of a large block, so the denominator is high. The hurdle would be if they wanted special bonuses of some sort.
