ALT doesn’t typically integrate with existing developments like this. Plus I’d prefer they (eventually) build an ALT in a Regina location with more space to do a combined hotel/residential development like in Winnipeg/Saskatoon

The Alt hotel in Saskatoon was a new build hotel tower connected to a residential tower podium. They are right next to each other. This could totally work for the Cornwall and 12th project. Whether it’s hotel/office or hotel/residential.

What a strange place to want to put your head office. I imagine they got a great deal on the land, since they are literally in the back of a Home Depot parking lot. Would have been nice to be infill on Victoria Avenue between Park and Arcola, if not downtown. Oh well.

That's Avana's MO. Honestly the whole thing sounds like a house of cards, *cough* Harmony *cough*, but who knows.

They paid pretty much top dollar for the land. And it's a terrible, garbage parcel. Which is why it didn't sell for like 5 years.

The question I have has how did they get 16,000 SF of office approved out of the downtown? Unless that includes the size of the parkade.

Instead, Harvard said its initial plan was to infill the basement of the demolished building. It plans to acquire neighbouring properties before developing the highrise tower.

Council's meeting on Wednesday is set to begin at 1 p.m.
Hopefully soon we will get some more information on the proposed tower

I am 100% in favour of keeping important historical buildings (or at least their facades) intact. But recreating the facade of a building that is on the same site as a previous historic site is a bit much.

Having said that, I do think that keeping the facade is nice as I like old brick buildings. But do it because it looks good or fits the area, not because of the very tangential historic connections.

That's just it. The way it's been talked about, probably a very small percentage of people realize that that building is on the site of another older demolished building that once held Riel's body and this building did not hold his body at any time.

The only history this particular building has is that it's old.

SHA leasing 110K square feet of College Ave. office building
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has leased more than 110,000 sq. ft. of the former Co-operators building on College Avenue, with plans to move hundreds of employees into the space. Great news hundreds of employees

SHA will be occupying two-thirds of the 153,000 square feet of office space at 1920 College Avenue.
There were two additions over the years to the Co-Operators Building. The first addition was added to the west side of the original building, along College Avenue.
The second addition was added to the north side, along Rose Street. Because the Rose Street addition is only connected at the first and second floors, I assume SHA will not be occupying it.

All over the city. I know the one on south Albert is long in the tooth and has been there for as long as I can remember. I'm assuming they are putting some older buildings employees under one roof.

As per the article that you linked to one of your earlier posts today:

"The health authority said the space will accommodate staff from a number of locations around the city. It noted in the statement that some of these staff worked in leased spaces, and the timing of the move coincides with existing lease end dates in some cases.

The space vacated by employees making the move will be reallocated for use “as is appropriate” in each facility, the SHA said.

The final cost of the lease, renovations and move has not yet been determined."

One of the buildings where employees will be relocated from is at Hamilton & 14th Avenue (the four-storey brown brick building on the southwest corner).
