I actually like the building, a lot. sure there are small details amiss, but from afar it is spectacular. UDP did their job.

Having recently moved to a very different part of the world, I use this forum to keep up to date on Vancouver's development, not to read pages upon pages of diatribes re a few square metres of odd-coloured spandrel and suchlike.
Firstly, if your statement that you had to "read pages upon pages of diatribes re a few square metres of odd-coloured spandrel" is not hyperbole, then I do not know what is. For no such diatribes exist. A single person simply pointed out (in one brief sentence) that some odd-coloured spandrel was starting to appear on the backside of Georgia. Is this the multi-page diatribe about odd-coloured spandrel that you were referring to, or did you have another multi-page diatribe about odd-coloured spandrel in mind? If so, where is it?

Secondly, you seem to have a very parasitical view of this forum. This is not your own personal forum where members exist soley to provide you with the kind of commentary you prefer. Members are individuals and have their own independent thoughts and opinions about projects. Some opinions will be positive, some will be negative; some opinions will be stated delicately, some will be stated bluntly; some opinions you will like, some you won't. But as long as those opinions are expressed in a manner consistent with forum rules, then you are probably just going to have to deal with it and learn to live with the fact that this forum does not exist to satisfy your personal needs or echo your personal preferences.

Now, if a few overly-sensitive members are finished with their whining over negative criticism and non-existent diatribes, then I suggest we get back to what we were doing: freely discussing Georgia, according to each member's independent judgment.

All in all, the Georgia makes a fine and distinctive addition to the CBD and the city skyline. There.

I always thought this would be an interesting building, a lot of the negative comments are unwarranted or perhaps trivial, at least not until it's finished.

I also think it's unique; has anyone seen anything similar to this anywhere?

The south side does have similar spandrel panels to the white ones on the north side - except they appear gray - and blend better with the facade (the narrower proportion makes it look like a conrete column). Here they are in one of my older photos (left side of shot, next to balconies, as on the north side).

Great angle SFU. Got a new BB today, I think the camera is a little better on this one - my photo:

Great photos LockedIn and Officedweller.

LockedIn, your new BB camera is great; that's a tough shot with tricky lighting. Out of curiosity, what model did you get?

^ Thanks. It's a Torch 9800. The camera is nice, but it's otherwise driving me a bit crazy so far - I miss my bold...

Great shots OD.

Whoever said it first takes the cake on this one, but to reiterate, this building does really look much better when it is cloudy out! Perfect for our city, but sad for beautiful sunny days.

Yeah, I'm waiting for "proper" lighting conditions these days - not too sunny, but not so cloudy that the camera produces a blurry photo.

The structure is most impressive from this angle. Really brings out the design concepts. Great addition to an old landmark
