The slots are shifting to YYC-SNA to make it daily. Will be interesting to see whether WS seek out more SNA slots to bring back YVR.

WS have 2 SNA slots for at least the past few years. I guess they rather give one of them to DL rather than using both for themselves.

Picture from reddit (r/halifax) of the 'Big Three' U.S. airlines (American, United, and Delta) at YHZ.

American Airlines goes from weekly to daily starting Tuesday August 6th between Halifax and Washington (DCA).

Booked my first Porter flight YYC-YYZ next week.

Anyone flown with them yet? Any tips on seating options? Worth the upgrades?

Never flown on their jets, but, I have used the turboprops from Moncton to Billy Bishop, and to Ottawa multiple times.

Based on the information provided on other forums, Porters load factors are in the dumps on many of their routes, and have been for most of their existance. Not sure what the issues are, but they appear to be bleeding money like crazy.

It does not look to be a sustainable model for long-term success.

Have my flight to TO next month booked.

Haven't heard issues from my BIL about load factors. Says they are full. as for bleeding money we can only guess. But I didn't help by getting 50% off my flight.

I am based out of YOW - Porter is great. You will either have a 75% LF or 25%. There is no in between. The fare I purchase always comes with a "porter stretch seat" and I have never had someone beside me. The back of the jet always seems to be more full. If you can spare the $15-35 on seat selection on top of your fare, it will be worth it to select a seat near the front with no one beside you.
Service is great, you can have a beer or two, with a coffee. Don't be afraid to hit the call button on the trans-con if you'd like another beverage before cart service. When I used to fly on the Q400 often (pre-jet Porter) the flight attendants would serve me two cans of beer at once. Now they will only give one small 355ml at a time. (the cans used to be 473ml). This was in my younger days though!

Free wifi on the jet service is great... in March I streamed Raptors games without issues while working.

I have flown their Q400 a handful of times lately... their LF% is way higher than the trans-con ops right now.

Their E2's are super nice. I still fly AC often when the schedule is better... but have switched to Porter over WS, and prioritize Porter over AC if I am doing a point-to-point flight where they both operate.

I have used Porter and no complaints from me.

FYI: you can save $50 if you buy a Porter $500 e-certificate from Costco: https://www.costco.ca/porter-airline...000233667.html

Ouch, 25% load factors? I'm not sure you'd find that on AC or WS.

The only drawback for me with Porter is the lack of IFE. Yes, I know you can stream onto a laptop but I rarely take a laptop when I travel. Plus, I kind of like discovering something new from the AC offerings rather than just watch something I've picked myself.

Porter is, without question, my favorite airline in Canada. Aisle and window seats only

Interesting comment about the 25% or 75% Porter loads. Doing some dummy bookings out of YOW and checking the seat map, it seems to be close to 90%, one I see is sold out (so assuming 100%) and Porter reserve at least 50% booked over a handful of random destinations I just picked. Maybe the 25% is just a bad day. Another observation is some are around ~50% with a $1700 round price tag, but true loads aren't accurate through this method until all pax have checked in.

It takes time for full brand recognition to happen. There are folks in Ottawa who still don't know PD is an option for Florida/Western Canada from YOW. Actually the CEO calls that "encouraging" if they can get away with loads like that without that knowledge. I would only be worried if in 2-3 years times the one-off 25% loads continue.

I personally will be using YOW-Western US quite a bit when they are launched. I refuse to connect for extremely basic routes like LAX, SFO, LAS.
