This is my favorite building to go up in New York in a very long time. It's going to be a gem.

It's like a mountain landed in Manhattan. I'm looking forward to see some far off skyline photos and aerials of New York once this monster is done. How many square feet is it again?

It's about 1.6 msf (as opposed to BofA's 2.35 msf), but that's because of the small footprint.

Does the asymmetry kind of bother anyone else? Maybe I'm a bit old-school.

it has always bothered me... it also bothers me that the "crown" is so stubby for such a wide building.. it looks like several small 5-10 story buildings were just asymmetrically stacked on top.

Yeah - I can see what they were trying to do; it's supposed to be an allusion to the ESB's crown. It comes off looking very strange.

I think from some angles (looking north from downtown or south from Central Park) it looks great, but from some angles (from the East River) it looks incredibly awkward. I see the allusion to both ESB (and Chrysler to some degree), but it lacks their "all around" good looks. It's like the girl from Seinfeld who looks great in certain light, but ghastly in the wrong light.

If it's been said once it's been said a thousand times... the tower's crown begs to be stretched by 150-200 feet. The resulting impact and proportions would be freaking glorious.

I'm just hoping the "new" rendering isn't a stumpier version of the old...

What I like about this tower is that no matter where you are in the city, you can always find Grand Central Terminal by sight alone!

Any guesses as to when this will officially be U/C? My estimate is that there will be foundation work by Q2 2017.
