I don't mean signalized lights. If lights are needed, then it is time for a grade separated interchange.
I mean east of Balsam Street where the roadway becomes divided. It's still called Thunder Bay Expressway.

Besides, I have been continually roasting you for wanting to destroy one of the best motorcycle roads in the province.
I tried looking at 11 and the stretch from North Bay to Tri-town looked like Malahat Drive to me...

Yes, because there isn't really much to call it.

Actually, it is not too bad. There are a few bad areas, but nothing like the 'Hat.

Now I really wonder how I managed to slip 417 along Lake Superior Shore. I suspect that, where there’s a will, there’s a way.

You did it by destroying one of the best motorcycle routes in Canada.

You might be surprised.
Go sit at part of the highway and count them going by in an hour. You might be surprised.

Go use the EDR next to the future 417 when the time comes (Read: never). It will be as fun and more scenic.
You really should take a look at that map. Except for a few places, most parts are realignment.

Highway 11 makes more sense from a trailer towing stance. Come visit me. Bring $500 cash. I will lend you my truck and trailer to drive to Nipigon and back. By the time you pull in the driveway, you will fully understand why dividing anything between SSM and Nipigon is almost beyond the realm of fantasy. In fact, it is the same reason that 11 is divided to North Bay and 69 still has 80 km to do.

Maybe the plans are posted somewhere?
The preliminary design/layout for twinning is complete all the way to Bruce Street.
My job has allowed me to see these plans (and use them in some cases). But plans can change from Preliminary to detailed design.

Edit: Never mind, it was you. https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/sho...26#post8458826 #907
Are the plans confidential for now?

I dunno. I know property has already been purchased along the preferred alignment, and in some cases like 20+ Years ago. Nothing crazy to Renfrew.

Also know route planning has already been completed to Petawawa? maybe further, you must have gotten your Cobden bypass somewhere

Yea in the Ottawa section, someone shared a community hall meeting for the section between Greenwood Road and County Road 653.

By the way, for the map included in my signature, can you check the route from Petawawa to Rolphton? The conceptual design is in Pembroke Library right now, and I haven’t gotten to check if I can just view it online.

Hi All:
I've finished mapping out a 4-lane divided freeway route between North Bay and Temiskaming Shores. It's now available for view in the link in my signature.

I guess I will move on to the section between Nipigon and Longlac tonight.

It looks good. The area between Nipigon and Longlac you are focusing on makes sense too.

I really need to take a break after bringing it past Beardmore though.
This is me right now:

Edit: Anyway, the section between Nipigon (more like Kama Bay) and Beardmore is up for viewing. I'm really hoping that the descent/ascent near Lake Jean is doable.

Lots of people have motorcycles, probably well over 100 go by my work/home each day and I'm not exactly on a very pretty street. A pretty good portion of recreational traffic on Highway 17 is motorcycles doing the circle tour or trans-Canada trip. Thunder Bay (pre-covid) actually put a decent bit of money toward campaigns attracting them.

I've finished mapping the freeway route between North Bay and Cochrane. Anyone who's interested can view it from the link in my signature.
I will try to finish the stretch from Longlac to Cochrane as soon as possible, too.

As we discussed, I feel it is missing something to or around Timmins.

I’ll add all the spurs later on, i.e. 72 (Sioux Lookout), 61 (Neebing), 144 (Sudbury), 144-101 (Timmins). So far, I’m just cuing the Timmins Spur by showing 101 as having divided 4 lanes west of Matheson.

After ~20 days, I'm finally done with preliminary freeway route search for the 11 between Nipigon and North Bay (987 km) <simply because swimmer_spe made me do it>. It's in the link in my signature.
Now, time to sleep.
