Yes, I was aware of MHS as a possibility. They were probably excluded because of the cost of renovations and the time frame involved.
I was thinking more of any other potential sites around the city that TD might have scouted out, and in particular 1222 Main.
1222 Main is essentially gutted, but is a relatively modern building otherwise, so I don't think the cost of renovations would have that much different there than the old Sears space. I wonder if Cadillac Fairview gave TD an offer they couldn't refuse???
1222 Main would have been preferable IMHO. It certainly would have helped bolster growth in the downtown west end, helping to encourage new adjacent services, restaurants and condo development. It would also have been neat to develop a "banking cluster" in the old terminal plaza complex (Tangerine, BDC
and TD Bank).
