Yes, I was aware of MHS as a possibility. They were probably excluded because of the cost of renovations and the time frame involved.

I was thinking more of any other potential sites around the city that TD might have scouted out, and in particular 1222 Main.

1222 Main is essentially gutted, but is a relatively modern building otherwise, so I don't think the cost of renovations would have that much different there than the old Sears space. I wonder if Cadillac Fairview gave TD an offer they couldn't refuse???

1222 Main would have been preferable IMHO. It certainly would have helped bolster growth in the downtown west end, helping to encourage new adjacent services, restaurants and condo development. It would also have been neat to develop a "banking cluster" in the old terminal plaza complex (Tangerine, BDC and TD Bank).

There was a City Notice so I think Dieppe is actively following Moncton with the Orders to Demolish of dumps.

I was wondering why there wasn't sales information on the SNB for the property. (I checked right away because I was wondering how much the owner was holding out for, in the end)

On another note, fencing has gone up and shovels have gone in the ground around the site of the new Dieppe Arena Complex, over the past week.

I found it strange they've installed all new lighting around the parking area at the current Centennial arena. It looks really nice but it just seems weird they would do this now. Doesn't look to be temporary lighting or for construction purposes. Also it looks like this lighting has been installed in the area of the new arena as well.

The city talked about that in the fall copy of their "Dieppe Mag" what they're doing is, aside from building the new arena there, they're also converting the rest of the property into what will be dieppe official festival grounds that could hold up to 25000 people. Community Events will be held there starting next year, it mentioned the city's acadian day festivities, food truck festival, etc. That's why the rest of the site has been updated with lights and electricity.

What I couldn't believe is that someone was living in that up until the end of November. There was always a car coming and going and the driveway was cleared up until then.

It's such a small lot, not sure what you could fit on that, would be great spot for a fast food place given it's location next to the high school.

Article in Huddle about the new Copper Branch restaurant opening at 200 Champlain St in Dieppe in March:

As previously mentioned, this will be their first location in Atlantic Canada.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but Thai Express is coming to CF Champlain this spring. Rumors of it being attached with the Starbucks behind roots but 100% will be opening in the mall

Just drove by Arris Vautour's monster apartment building in Dieppe. It looked like some apartments were occupied. Or perhaps some trades people were working late. Anyone have an update?

I'm pretty sure people have been living in the building since the fall. Not all the apartments are rented yet, but some are being lived in.

The new TD Corporate Banking Centre at Champlain Place will officially open on Monday, initially with 150 employees, but increasing to 1,015 over the next three years.

The cost of the renovated facility was $50M, half of which was provided by Cadillac Fairview.

In the property listing, it says "Lot must be purchased with adjacent lot". So It seems the city will be giving up a bit of the green space around the Matthieu Martin school entrance to make the lot commercially usable by a developer.

There was a plan for a competing fast food way back when I was in school a long time ago.

Not sure if that will be the plan again but would be nice to see, and they would have quite a bit of business between 11AM-4PM

I take that back. I went to see it in the daylight and it looks like hell with the Coast Tire almost abutting it. Nothing against Coast, they are an awesome garage doing great work at fair prices, ibut it sure detracts from the new building next door.

It seems like they have built, or are still in the process of building an off ramp from 15 onto Industrial. Is there any reason this would be needed? Personally I do not see any.

Indeed, the off ramp was opened last fall, and as far as I can tell (just from driving by), it seems to get regular usage.

An ON ramp there however is a different issue. They did some basic work there last year (land clearing), but there was no major grading etc. In some ways it would make sense to complete the project, but I suppose a traffic study might be necessary to determine if it would be worthwhile.

One thing an on ramp there would do is to allow alternate access to 11/15 northbound for semis leaving the Dieppe Industrial Park so that they would not have to deal with the dog bone roundabout at the Dieppe Blvd/Harrisville Blvd interchange.
