Top of the parapet, but it remains to be seen if any thing is above that.

Another look at the slender tower as it relates to zoning...

This building is a true testament to modern engineering. I wonder what kind of sway this will have with high winds/potential hurricane force winds.

Some interesting things i found in the report:

Quote:
On account of the tower's extraordinary height and aspect ratio, significant premiums have been added in order to achieve an adequate level of human comfort.
Quote:
P-delta analyses are carried out using the load combination of 1.2 DL + 0.5 LL.
I'm surprised that they didn't use 1.2 DL + 1.6 LL for the P-delta analyses, which examines the extra forces generated by the deflection of the building, although they did state a preference for using unfactored loads.

I am so excited to see this one rise! This has to be the most under the radar 1,400 footers to ever go up! This IMHO will be like the big brother in a sense to Trump World Tower near the UN...

If this building can rise 1,400' with only 500k SF, perhaps 220 CPS actually could eclipse 1,000' given it probably has 300-350k SF?

If they work out a deal with Extell to acquire its parcels, this tower will have even more sf.

so is 1398 the top floor? It looks like the roof. Anyway, welcome to NYC's new tallest building!

Hi all, I'm a first-time poster to the 432 Park forum, and I am pretty much clueless about the building and plans other than what I've heard others mention..So what exactly is the status of this building? Is construction underway, who is in charge of it? I know it will be residential, will there be any observation deck? Also, wonder what the final name of the tower will be, assuming it gets built? 432 Park sounds a little generic for such an intended tall building.

Not sure how I feel about this. I will wait till there are better renders, but I sort of like this.

Read through the thread.

NYGuy posts screen shots from the webcam regularly.

Macklowe and CIM are in charge, info available in the first post of the thread.

No observation deck. This is a residential building. People who spend $50M+ on an apartment here won't want tourists standing outside their building waiting to get in an elevator to the top.

Schedule A shows 84 with a greater height than some of the older drawings of 89 with a lower height. I'm guessing the first drawing below
doesn't show the last two mechanical levels. Then again, it's 1,381 ft with a 1,398 ft parapet height shown above.

The two possible heights at this point are either 1,379' or 1,398'. Either will place it taller than the POS 1 WTC. It's actually refreshing that 1 WTC won't be the tallest, and REALLY shows the city finally moving past 9/11 (that something can be built to 1,400' without being a piece of commemorative crap).

Those aren't building heights. DOB doesn't measure building heights. They measure to highest occupied floor and parapet.

I haven't been following the 1 WTC thread, but if that's what folks are saying, they're wrong. They don't get the NY Times article, and are misconstruing the message. The official height isn't changing from 1776, though the design may change.

That's in question, but the discussion is over in the Freedom Tower thread. Whatever the case, this tower will have a higher "roof" height. The most specific details and renderings haven't been released, so until then we're just speculating with official DOB documents.
