I'd like to take a moment to thank Patapsco, animatedmartian, et al. for these unbelievable updates. These pictures are the kinds of posts I wait for while doing my best to tune-out the opinionated garbage that usually fills the halls of this forum, so thank you for being such great contributors and truly enriching the experience for everyone.

I don't know if you're still around the site today, Patapsco, but if you could get pictures and/or video of this today, it would be greatly appreciated:

I've never seen that much water in the memorial pools before, and I'm praying that this wasn't just a test of it's maximum output but the level at which these pools will eventually be operating.

EDIT: Wow, within the amount of time it took me to write this post, the test was stopped.

I wish they'd fix the cameras... only the looking down view is running, and the rest have been down since the 8th- that's 21 days now .

So as long as the surrounding railing is 42" we need not worry about that.

Why are they so deep? That is what makes them beautiful. It is impossible to fall into them, due to the parapet. The only way to get inside the pool would be to climb over and jump in, but that means injuries and an arrest, with definite jailtime so...probably not a good idea. There will be daredevils that do it though and theres nothing you can do about that.

Foam test. This was done to test the filters, according to Traynor in the last page.

I know, right?

I wouldn't have believed me either... It was wild speculation and a touch of sarcasm.

I would be more concerned with people jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge.

How are they going to keep the waterfalls working during the winter? If they heat them, they'll look like outdoor saunas from all the steam.

It doesn't have to be that hot - just hot enough when it leaves the edges not to freeze in mid-air, and then when it reaches the pool floor it can be kept above freezing through the whole course of its movement to the drain. If it gets really cold, they can add clear antifreeze.
