Good point, this could be the case. But I agree that that shouldn't take a month.

Then again, how would a person from the outgoing construction company know for certain the timetable after they leave?

This is the first time I've felt nervous about this project...

together
I don't think a month of down time means a thing. Downtime due to wet weather was to be expected.
As for building a single tower, Sacas statements of not making any money on the project have lead me to believe it's all or nothing. i.e. Spreading the cost over two towers is what makes the project feasible.
How were sales last month? Dec. is always very slow for obvious reasons but I'm still interested in the figures.

weather especially in jan for sacramento, and feb for that matter can be rather ridiculous as we all know, and a 24hour concrete slab pour probably wouldn'nt be the wisest thing with lots of water around.

more than likely bovis is re-negotiating with the sub-contractors or hiring new ones, going over the plans and making a schedule of construction to go by, there not the largest builder of highrise residential by just rushing in.

I agree with mechanico that at this point its all or nothing more than likely, better to build em both and be optimisitic about the re-bounding real estate market, plus as has been said once they're rising and people see this, it creates a realness and excitement which will lead to increased sales and eventually price increases which in turn may help the bottom line. the project is pretty far along and the momentum is good, just sit back, watch 621 climb towards the sky and the next thing you know you'll be seeing concrete rise from the towers site.

Aura on the other hand, I mean really now whats the f----ing hold up? if a building is over 70% sold, get that sucker built, at this point 500 cap mall will start before aura!!!

Good point. But what is worse than rain in Jan. and Feb. is
the high water table that rise come late Feb. or March.
Then that hole will really have a ton of water in it. I'm sure
Bovis has dealt with crap worse than this for other projects.

How high (feet below the surface) is the water table in downtown Sacramento?

The piledrivers are probably needed at a project that has a lower watertable. Let the watertable drop and then resume.

Right now the water table is as low is it can be for being
so close to the river. Once spring comes that's when the
table will rise. If the Sacramento River is any indication
of how high the water can get, then I would guess 15 to 20 feet
below the surface depending on where you are in the valley.

Like was said before though, I don't think Bovis will have a problem with a high water table. Aren't they building Trump Chicago? That thing's right on the river. Honestly, it's all probably internal goings on from the change over.

Mapquest says Milwaukie is 2,087 miles from Sacramento. How do you presume to have any opinion at all about what's happening at 301CM? Is your Sacramento source the same person who told you Measures Q&R would pass?

I was going by what Los Lobo said and what we know to be true about the change in contractors. In case you didn't know, MilwaukIe is in Oregon. MilwaukEe is where I currently live. I have only lived here for just under 2 1/2 years. I am moving BACK to Sacramento April 3rd. I lived in Sacramento for 24 years before moving here. I have never lived anywhere else. THAT is how I presume to have an opinion about what's happening at 301CM! That and the fact that I have been a member of skyscraperpage.com for over a year and a half. You have only been with us for 5 months. Talk to brandon12 about the prospects of Q&R passing, too. I was not the only one who thought they would pass. I am just optimistic for the future of Sacramento and although I do know the realities of the situations we discuss here, I tend to take the more optimistic opinion almost every time. Keep 'em comin'! You seem like you know a whole lot about me, MilwaukEe, and how to have a real discussion. Check your facts...get them right...come back when you have an argument.

I'm not too worried. I think Los_Lobo and bennywah are on the money. Bovis isn't the biggest guy on the block by rushing into shakey projects with tenuous funding. They are probably just lining up their ducks for a full scale construction effort. I wouldn't be surprised to see alot of equipment movement and deployment onsite by Bovis while the "real" work takes a short pause. As for Aura, thats a different story. I went by 621 to get a firsthand look at the progress and I wanted to stop by the Aura sales office and the place was closed with not a soul in site as far as I could tell. Anyone been by the sales office recently and get to talk to a live body?

Aura office is closed on Mondays and they also just raised their prices.

When I post that the site would stop construction for a
month, I was expecting the nassayers to come out of the
woodwork. It will be awesome when work resumes... from
what I understand, the Towers sales office sent a letter
to all buyers telling them work would stop for sometime.

On some projects I have been forced to change contractors/trades during construction. Unfortunately, this has rarely been a amicable process and usually has to do with a unfamiliar low-bidder asking for many change-orders(pavers, curb & gutter, wet utilities are notorious...). . Often, for legal and other reasons, most work will come to a halt while the transition occurs. I've never brought all work to a halt as usually you can schedule other trades in some phase of the project. Now, I've never managed a high-rise project, but this could very well be the issue as obviously, you can't phase construction on a high-rise like you can on other projects. This might account for bringing work to a complete halt during the transition.

Somewhat Freudian, writing assayer instead of nassayer don't you think?

Yeah, I caught that SP error this morning. I don't check my P's & Q's as
carefully when I start to get tired.
