New Centennial Yards Details

Still wish they included a plaza or public space fronting State Farm Arena, but really liking where they're going with the block size and street connectivity. The park on the west side of Five Points MARTA could be a really impressive gateway to the project and go along way to encourage people to reach it by transit. This project isn't going to please everyone but just eager to see this one get going. This city will never be complete without a revival of downtown.

Thanks for posting the image above of Centennial Yards. It does look like the buildings fronting State Farm Arena engage with the sidewalk.

I hope the old AJC building near Five Points gets re-done in this project.

Does anyone have the webcam link to the GA State student housing on John Wesley Dobbs? I remember seeing it on here somewhere. It's not on the construction thread.

Are you sure it was for that tower? I don't remember seeing anyone post a webcam for John Wesley Dobbs, but I did see a webcam posted a while back for the other large student tower in downtown.

I'm 99% sure. Someone posted a few months ago.

However, I could be wrong.

The Courtyard turned out pretty nice. This is the one that was sent back to the drawing board?

They should extend the 1 lane for pedestrians and plants all the way down here.

Yes. The original design was horrendous. What was built isn't perfect, but is much better and the brick really works well with the historic buildings at this intersection.

Absolutely agree. Most populous area of Atlanta should be getting better treatment. IMO, extend the shared street from Memorial up to Peachtree Rd (where the city loses jurisdiction). Being a ridge line would make this a preferred cycling route compared to the hillier parallel streets, too. But at least provide more space for pedestrians to gather, mingle, eat, relax, read books, etc. more space for people to live.

I'm curious, but what would a perfect building in that location look like to you?

imo the white 'wood work' at the top (unseen in the pic) looks really cheap and out of place. besides that I really like it

Do you think this is just waiting on the finishing touches?

Yea looks to be that way, To Bad though, it be Nice to see a super tall in downtown or midtown. Any time a 50 story plus gets mentioned by a developer for Atlanta it eather gets scaled down to 30 stores or less or the first posted rendering gets a charge from Breath taking to crap. Or gets canceled.

I would love to see the rail, between different neighborhoods and also a super tall hopefully one day as well as high speed rail from Atlanta to Mabe Nashville or Charlotte . Miami I’ll add to. More HQs relocation to the Atlanta, a huge casino or two or three built. Not just at the speed way in Hampton but downtown Atlanta, something in Savannah like a river boat like Vicksburg Ms has. lol my dreams of future Atlanta.
