-1C and partly cloudy in Moncton at 2 PM.

Moncton is mostly missing the storm. Periods of snow tomorrow beginning around daybreak , but only 2-4 cm expected here. Halifax is getting 15-20 cm of the white stuff. It's mostly a coastal event.

How are the PP for hiking in the winter? I finally got a year round pass and don't think I have the energy for cross country skiing or snow shoeing.

Completely dependent on where you go. At Frontenac yesterday the trails weren't as packed down as I expected them to be, so it was a more effort than wanted. A lot of parks close for the winter months also, so something to keep in mind. Our next journey will be somewhere closer to the lake so there's less snow. The photos above are just from a local spot near Cobourg.

Visited some badlands near Kaohsiung county. High of 25c. Starting to warm up now. Should be in the high 20s later in the week.

Back to Kaohsiung for lunch

2C and cloudy! Not a bad day.

Low of 0C (wind chill of -2) this morning.

The warmspot was Maple Creek, SK at 14.9C. That is the warmest temperature this year in Canada. The bananas are loving it.

Warmest low was White Rock, BC at 10.0C. Pending evening temperature, this would be the first double digit low in the country this year.

Giallo and TownGuy - your pics are always a visual treat! Very unusual/interesting landscape in your first couple pics Giallo - it almost looks like a mini sand dune mountain range.

Dry, but very foggy and muggy day here in Victoria, the sun nearly broke through twice, but alas it was not meant to be. 8 p.m. the temp here is 11.5

Again, a decent day until mid-afternoon when some light showers started.

Sunday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 12 C, the low was 9 C.

-1C and light snow in Moncton at 9 AM. Only about 2 cm expected today.

Here it is the end of January and we have still had no blizzards in Moncton this winter. Very peculiar. I would say the average snow depth on the ground in the city is 7-8 cm.

Another snow day. Closing at 11:30. No sign of the storm yet in St. John's but it's already snowing in St. Pierre and the Burin Peninsula. First bands are moving across the southern Avalon now as well. Should start snowing lightly here by noon. Gets truly bad this evening.

Moncton is truly on the very edge of this storm system. Looking at the weather radar, the boundary with the most intense snow bands appears to be at the Dieppe/Memramcook border.

The storm is already beginning to push off to the east, so, another nothingburger for Moncton.

A few hours ago Sheringham Point on Vancouver Island was at 16.1 C.
Even Whitehorse is mild and rainy.

Home and settled. Bus was absolutely bursting at the seams. Snow is just lightly starting.

EDIT: Government closed at 1 p.m.

EDIT 2: Metrobus off the roads at 4 p.m.

The weekend forecast for Toronto looks nice; highs between 0-3 and lots of sun. We need it!

Currently 0 and overcast. Could go up to 2 with the clouds breaking near dawn. No major rain/ice/snow events in the next week, some flurries/drizzle Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

We have also now passed the statistically coldest days of the year (on average).

It's pretty rough now.

Video Link

Edit: A lot of snow down already.

Edit: quick walk to the Superette. Edna lives just down the block so she stays open through everything.

EDIT: Wind finally arrived. Just slammed the house out of nowhere, like a microburst. And now it's audibly windy outside.

My car read 14 C driving in Vancouver this morning. Local ski hills have lost much of their snow.

Looks like West Vancouver tied that last hour also at 16.1.

What a whiplash month.

Low of -0.4 this morning, the streak is over

I found the Cedar Springs weather station, which was installed around a year ago. It's on a bluff overlooking Lake Erie

Lake ice has mostly cleared out over the past couple days. There's still a lot just west of here

Cold and blustery in Halifax tonight. Looks like we received about 20cm of snow, though it's difficult to estimate due to the drifting. Shearwater is saying -5°C with a wind chill of -12°C with wind gusts to 44 km/h at 7pm, and YHZ is -7°C with wind chill -17°C and wind gusts of 61 km/h.

Cold, blustery, snowy. Sorry no pics... so most probably won't even read this.

Enjoy your weather, wherever you are.

I'm reading it!

How does Halifax do in the snow. Is it as bad as it is in Vancouver or do people actually change their tires to snow tires?
