I think articles using project definition phase schedules and not the actual construction contract timelines without clarifying it is one of my pet peeves. It's pretty damn disingenuous.

I was just thinking that. It just enrages the uninformed masses for no good reason. People are already primed to be angry about LRT without this kind of reporting.

Good to hear, looking forward to the extension to open. I wonder how much of a lift we will see in usage once the extension opens as this would make it much easier for a lot of Orleans residents to commute.

Maybe anecdotally but I'm seeing the opposite on the west extension.. very little workers or visible progress for the last several months which is concerning.

They all seem to be out on the Moodie end. They laid all the tracks and have been running catenary and wires the last couple of weeks. I wonder if they plan to work their way inside from out?

I went out to Orleans yesterday. No trains beyond Blair. The only workers I saw were small numbers doing station work and one truck running down the track. The railing still needs to be installed on the Queensway overpass east of Blair. Generally, not much going on.

I’m surprised to read this. Have they not run slow trains all the way out to Trim? If so, there must have been tracks and power for the whole eastern length, no?

They have, just not for a few months now.

Ah, my mistake. I read lrt's friend comment as RAILS, and not "railings".

I wonder about what salty road spray would do to those electronic ticket machines.

It looks like they're putting up glass walls - probably to protect the machines.

I hope this integration work means full testing is happening soon

Yeah, I'm a little worried. First train to go beyond Blair was in March 2024. Since then, I barely see any trains on the Orleans stretch. I was hoping that by now, we'd see a high volume testing each day.

One thing that's different this time around is that it's not a brand new never used before system so the amount of things they need to do to is less, there's fewer uncertainties. They might not need as much pre testing as before

Hopefully that's the case. The route is far simpler too, fewer stations. Fingers crossed for a 2025 opening.

This is pretty much it - all the "Stage 2" trains are being used on Stage 1, so they don't need vehicle testing/break-in kms. For Stage 2, it's a lot easier to do work on the finishing touches when they aren't testing trains all the time.

I would imagine the preliminary testing went very well, making them confident that there will be minimal drama in the final testing phase. I wonder how long their list of "fixes" is from the start of Line 1 to current? From switch heaters to wheels, etc.
