Jazz isn’t affected technically but if their pilots can’t get here then….
Current Jazz route map is pretty small out of Halifax, since Air Canada is using PAL for Q400 routes at the moment.

The only dedicated Air Canada Jazz routes are YHZ-BOS and YHZ-EWR out of Halifax for the month of September. Air Canada Jazz does a few YHZ-YUL routes a week for maintenance in Halifax.

EDIT: Looks like Pal takes over EWR and BOS October 1st. Jazz is flying a few YHZ-YUL flights in October for maintenance in Halifax.

As Keith points out, it's an accident of geography - but a very happy one.
The destinations and travel times are interesting and varied too, also due to geography. Major US cities, historical areas in Europe, and the tropical Caribbean. We have connections to Asia here but the Pacific is much larger and those are long flights. From Halifax you can get to NYC in 2.5 hours or London in 6 hours.

This is YHZ's 9th European non-stop scheduled route.

UltraBasic - if you've never had the joy of that experience - is the last row (or two) so no more than 6 or 12 seats.

in September, my wife and I were on an IcelandAir flight coming back to Halifax from Europe. We were in the last row. Never again. The seats don't recline, and the seat in front of me was broken, so it didn't go fully upright. The screen was about 4" from my face the entire flight.

Add to that the crowd hanging out next to my seat (aisle seat) for the majority of the flight waiting for the bathroom to free up. I had various body parts rubbed up against me that I don't even want to think about.

Worst flight I've been on, and I've been on my fair share. I'll pay extra to avoid this in the future.

Not to mention a mom with a screaming toddler across the aisle.

The likelihood these flights are cancelled and passengers are rerouted through Toronto is high. Not a great track record by Westjet on their transatlantic routes.

Westjet doesn't fly to Paris from Toronto, and Westjet only has 1 Daily flight to Toronto from Halifax.

If your flight is cancelled with Westjet in Halifax you'll be out of luck unless you want to spend at least 12 hours flying west to Calgary and back to get to Paris.

There is a rumour going around on the Canadian Airport Thread that Condor is ending service to YHZ, but no other info has been provided as of yet.

Discover Airlines (Lufthansa) might go daily if that's the case.

They have all the connections in Halifax and Frankfurt with AIr Canada and Lufthansa.

Seems like LH is intent on booting Condor from several North American secondary markets with Discover including the following, SAT, PHX, BWI, MSP, YEG in addition to YHZ according to the chat on Airliners.net.

In the long run Discover is better for YHZ with LH being Star Alliance. Too bad though, Condor was a great product with their new A330neos.

Daily to FRA would be a big win for those of us who are *A Gold/Aeroplan.

In my experience with 4Y75: the award availability in J is already excellent and when you add on the stopover options that are available, it's some of the best redemption value for us YHZ'ers in the entire Aeroplan program (without having to reposition).

Starting next summer, Condor will be suspending flights from Halifax to Frankfurt. - https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-...nton-1.7419444

Q400 skids off runway at YHZ after gear collapse, PAL inbound from YYT. Everyone seems to have evacuated safely according to the CBC link below.
