It is hard to tell, did they pour the foundation for the crane?

Also, it looks like they are all set to start setting rebar for the mat poor.

They haven't poured the foundation for the crane yet... but
it's ready to go with rebar. I think they still have a lot of
digging to do around piles before rebar goes in. They have
started to dig deeper around several already.

I posted more pictures under highrise construction where
you can see closer up on what's going on.

I actually saw the other pictures later, you can tell that the foundation for the crane has not been poured yet.

Thanks for posting the pics.

I drove by the site today quickly, without stopping, and if I saw what I think I saw, one of three things must be true:
1. They're done pile driving
2. The project's been canceled
3. Pile driving has been suspended for the rainy season.

I base this on the fact that I believe they are taking town the last of the pile drivers. It's entirely possible I'm mistaken, but if I'm not, then I think scenario #1 is the case...I couldn't see if any unused piles remained on site.

Maybe you need to go back and take a better look.

The project has not been cancelled, to my knowledge. A good friend of mine does escrow for the the towers, and would have called me bitchin and screamin for being laid off.....

My bet is the pile driving is all finished...

Friday they were still Pile Driving in West Sac........and it was heard in DT cuz of the wind maybe?

It seems that the rush is on for the 4th street tower.....maybe they are gonna build one at a time.....there were the same amount of piles as like maybe 3 weeks ago....about 20 or so

The 3rd st tower didnt seem to have 40 rows of 30 piles or is it 30 rows of 40??? like the 4rth street one definitely has from all the latest pix.

I doubt I would hear the pounding in WS, but it could have been.

If they were to build only one, I would imagine they would build the tower on 3rd street where the IC would be

Brandon’s right... they are now taking away the second pile driver. As I walked
down Capitol Mall today, I counted nine flatbed big-rigs waiting to haul off
the pile driver and most likely the remaining piles too. Looking down into
the hole from 300 Capitol Mall I noticed many big puddles and dark wet soil
everywhere. Even with the water pump working hard along 3rd street, there
is still lots of standing water in the hole. If it rains a good amount this Thursday
and Friday, I imagine work will stop for a while or they will cancel the project
all together (sarcasm intended).

Also, whether they build one tower or both towers, the podium will still have to
be built first, so the whole block would have to be developed at the same time.
There has been no mention of any design or construction changes to the
project so both towers are still expected to be built at the same time.

Well, damn!!!

Heaven forbid I use sarcasm in one of my posts, (see above) and a hint of it has come true. I walked
down to the site to take a look at what the next phase would be in construction now that the
drivers are gone… to my surprise the Towers site has been abandon except for two guys
in hard hats. I was shocked considering there has been activity there since the
groundbreaking party back in July. I decided to look further into it, so I walked up to the
corners at 4th and Capitol Mall and wait patiently till one of the construction guys passed
by again. After a few minutes one passed by so I asked him where everybody went? He
said “work has stopped for a month” At this point I was floored . I asked what was going
on? He looked at me with a shrug of the shoulders.

Place your bets people… what doe’s this mean? We realty need to hear from those who
thought this project never had a chance.

Now that it looks like we have a month of idle time, Id love to hear predictions as to what
may or may not happen next with the Towers. I could go back to the Design & Review
Committee to loop-off a few floors or they may build just one or cancel the project all
together

As for me… I have no prediction right now.

I was told they're transitioning from Turner to Bovis right now. Not sure why that would cause work to stop for a month though, but maybe they're still ironing out details with Bovis. Or maybe Saca is waiting to get more money from CalPERS.

Forget about CalPERS. CalPERS was only financing about 20-25% of the project. I expect the problem is with the other 75-80%.

Of course that's what you think...let's go off of speculation(and quite negative speculation throughout the process) and not fact(that the construction company is changing!). I'm sorry Phillip, you lost all credibility with me way before this!

This from the brilliant prognosticator from Wisconsin!! Aren't you the one who was so certain Measure Q and R would pass too? Why don't you move to Sacramento before you start trying to tell Sacramentans what's going on here?
