Man, I sure hope this is what's going up and not the design that is on True North's website. I would love to see this over the block-long office building plus it would fit the character of Roosevelt Row much better than a "business design" office building.

A second downtown Phoenix grocery store? $231 million high rises to replace transit c

Article on Central Station. It goes up before city council on April 3rd. I am not sure another grocery store per say this close to Block 23/Fry's could work. But I would love to see something like an urban Target go in.

If its something smaller I think It could be good, if you Live at Kinnect, ASU or Monroe you wouldn't want to go all the way down to Block 23 for grocery

Hence why I think an urban Target with a smaller grocery section would be the perfect fit, and would also provide other retail items not readily available in Downtown (clothing, home items, electronics, etc.). Either way, glad to see that this is even being discussed. Ten years ago, it wouldn't have even been considered.

Looks pretty far fetched like when a car company unveils a crazy looking concept that turns out to be a completely pedestrian final product.

I don't recall those being posted previously TBH, but there's a lot posted on here to try and remember. I would love to see this design. But truth be told, it's probably going to be the renderings that are on True North's website and in their Ro2 documentation...which is the block-long office building.

A little bit on Central Station (nothing really new) and a little bit more of info on 3rd Street improvements, protected bike lanes and apparently implementing a quiet zone for Downtown railroad which I'm assuming is for the commercial freight lines and not LRT.

The article specifically said that a grocery chain was interested. Perhaps Safeway, Sprouts or Whole Foods?

That would seem to rule out Target. Especially since Target has abandoned the ‘City Target’ format and has zero plans to build new stores in that format. A Target downtown could be neat - but they now want to build full size stores in urban areas - I.e. multi-level full size stores in Chicago & Stamford, CT. The closest we have to an urban Target format is the store @16th St & Camelback - which was an experimental format.

But awesome news - not sure if we could expect them to break ground this year - if so that would be the 7th major DT project to break ground this year!

Also - an Intercontinental Hotel in Phoenix?? That’s awesome news.

Easy to miss. From https://www.azcentral.com/story/news...us/3246955002/

The project calls for a 30-story tower with 300 apartments, a 150-room InterContinental Hotel and 35,000 square feet of office space. A second 18-story building would contain the new transit center and private student housing to support the surrounding universities.

True North apparently serious about the Roosevelt Yacht Club idea:

Slightly confused about the "new" 10-story office language, assuming that's a typo?
