Another article on the Griffin plan

Ken Griffin: Citadel NYC Tower 'Probably' Going Ahead Despite Mamdani Video

"Despite claiming that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani put him “in harm's way” by filming a viral video outside of his $238M penthouse, billionaire Ken Griffin says he will still “probably go through with” building a $6B tower on Park Avenue for his hedge fund, Citadel.

But Citadel will likely focus more of its future growth at its upcoming Miami headquarters, Griffin said Tuesday afternoon in an interview with CNBC. Griffin filed a permit in the last few days to add “several hundred square feet of new space in the yet-to-be-built 53-story tower in the Brickell neighborhood, he said...

Roth still said he expects Vornado to stay in the project, but he warned that the skyscraper won't happen without Griffin's go-ahead...

Also on the call, Roth called New York City “by far and away the strongest real estate market in the country...”

More threats. He should just move the entire operation to Miami. If it's that pressing of a matter, do it and be done with it. This constant whining is killing me.

Griffin and Mamdani are both just spewing tired political BS.

Citadel's largest office will almost certainly always be in NYC, and this tower won't even open until Mamdani is out of office. He lives here half the time, his kids go to school here, and his employee base is here.

None of the political bs has anything to do with this tower. Griffin is known for his tantrums, and has already run from one city. That being said, if it was a better idea to expand more in Miami, as he is now saying, it was a better idea before now. Not AFTER millions have been spent on air rights and DIB contributions. It costs more to operate in NYC, even without all of that. Everyone know this. And yet. And YET! That’s why I say leave, or shut up about it. He’s going to be MORE than fine either way. But the 8million residents of NY will always come first over some tower.

Couldn't have said it any better myself

“Vornado exec says they are ‘ready to roll’ on 350 Park”

By Keith Larsen
MAY 6, 2026 AT 5:39 PM EDT

Quote:
“We’ve started demolition and we’re ready to roll,” said Weiss. “There’s a lot of rhetoric, a lot of stuff in the media that’s not accurate, quite frankly.”

Vornado faces a mid-July deadline to either fully commit to the joint venture or sell its stake. Vornado and Rudin have the option to acquire an interest between 23 percent and 40 percent.

“You should assume we’re in,” said Weiss….

Weiss said 350 Park Avenue is already getting calls from tenants, years before the building will be finished.

“Users as small as 50,000 feet are already calling us for presentations five years ahead of time, which is unheard of,” said Weiss. “So that shows you the tight market we’re in.”

That's good news.

Theoretically could Citadel even legally back out if they wanted?

Not an expert on these contracts but surely they're locked in somehow.

Between the new iconic towers on Park and the lavish new medians, Park Avenue is going to be absolutely incredible!

The first iteration was a better use of height for this locale. It was more unique and rich in detail akin to fabulous 425 Park avenue, but on a larger scale. These designs have more graceful massings and with the metallic trims does NOT make them come off as a giant glass blob, which the latest pudgy design does.

The oldest iteration obviously had a more overt relationship with 425 Park, but I don't think it's a better design than the final plan.

One of the more newsworthy moments of the event came courtesy of Vornado’s co-head of real estate, Glen Weiss.…..

“We’ve started demolition and we’re ready to roll,” Weiss added. “There’s a lot of rhetoric, a lot of stuff in the media that’s not accurate, quite frankly.”

“You should assume we’re in.”

I suspect that Citadel is going to wind up filling the whole tower. Finance professionals want to be in the Financial Capital of the World — not in the swamp.

This is going to be incredible!

It looks like the scaffolding is now beginning to cover 350 Park. When I walked by a few weeks ago, it only covered Rudin’s building.
