Yeah, that's a big no from me.

I just don't understand why anyone would think this looks good. Just make the entire building beige, and be done with it. This kind of added 'flare' makes for really unsightly architecture.

I noticed this application for Coquitlam, its basically behind the Dairy Queen across from the IKEA and next to the Mackin Park, it was a trailer court and there is a coop building on the property which will have to go. It doesn't say how many of the 6 buildings will be towers but will really change the area.

Project Proposal: To construct 6 buildings ranging between 6 to 35 storeys with 1500 residential units, podiums, retail space, restaurant space, childcare space, and 100 non-market rental units. Proposed rezoning from RM-2 and RMH-1 to a CD zone based on C-5 zoning.

Application associated with proposal:
Pre-Application.
Status Pre-Application
Address 1026 Brunette Avenue & 100 Nelson Street

Maybe design by committee (each wanting to "have a voice"?)

Development application for a 61 story tower on 2918 & 2922 Glen Drive, Coquitlam. Very significant for the area, would be 13 floors higher than the city's current tallest, and 18 floors higher than the current tallest in the area (MThree). No word on the exact height but it would probably be the tallest in the city. No idea if it'll go anywhere but very notable if it does.

I think its taller now, cause the smaller building next to it is visible now from Como Lake. The tower is more visible from inside the Safeway as well.

Both 26-storey towers are set to be market strata towers. At full build out, the Inlet District is expected to include six condo towers consisting of three 26-storey towers and three 31-storey towers. It will also include three six-storey buildings, a four-storey office building, and two daycare facilities with a total capacity for 194 children. All in all, Wesgroup says the project will deliver 2,486 condominiums and 101 market rental units.

Beedie Living is planning three high-rise residential towers in Port Moody that will add to the growing list of high-profile development projects in the city and serve as a prime example of transit-oriented development.

The subject site of the project is 3060-3092 Spring Street and 80-85 Electronic Avenue, just east of the Millennium Line SkyTrain's Moody Centre Station, and is currently zoned for light industrial uses.

Inlet District
(formerly Coronation Park)

Another Inlet District story from Daily Hive:

Quote:
The first phase spans the Ioco Road side of the 15-acre land assembly between Barnet Highway and Guildford Drive, with two 26-storey condominium towers built atop a mixed-use, four-storey podium containing new retail uses to activate the development’s Ioco Road frontage, including a grocery store. This initial phase includes a four-storey building with office space and a childcare facility.
...
As part of its $44 million in infrastructure upgrades, Wesgroup Properties will build a new east-west pedestrian overpass across Ioco Road between Inlet District and the SkyTrain station to eliminate the need for pedestrians and cyclists to make a street-level crossing across the busy arterial road.

I had to go to Coquitlam Centre area after work the other day, traffic along the Barnet highway was great till you get to Port Moody, than its like a crawl all the way to Coquitlam Centre, that area with so much development is turning into a Traffic Nightmare, I know they have skytrain but traffic is awful, they really need to improve some of the raods in that area.
