We had a great evening meal at Radius last night, and walked by this. Nice to see the progress in person!

Also, the Pheasant Plucker has a large patio on part of the lot to its east. They must have leased part of that, but it would be great for the new proposal to incorporate an alleyway patio or something... hopefully it is discussed between CU and PP. And hopefully the other pubs are able to open their patio spaces soon too, though most are quite small and would probably not be worthwhile financially. The city should just close off that strip of Augusta for now (part of the south side is closed for the construction) and let the pubs put tables on the street, like what was done with King William last summer.

There's lots of space where the city could implement outdoor dining between the road space on Augusta or parts of Haymarket or the abundance of parking lots. Sort of a King William vibe could be achieved with a little creativity.

Looks like another establishment's going into the old Winking Judge space, aptly called, The Judge.

I find it kind of silly that Augusta has street parking there. They could easily lose the 5 parking spaces, and build a single long patio that takes up the entire lane of parking spots.

That would be good.

I dislike the parking along King William too, especially given the plethora of parking spaces in the surrounding blocks. No reason to have it there from spring to fall at least... in fact I think James to Hughson should be permanently closed to traffic during the warmer months, perhaps Hughson to John too (keeping Hughson open to access Cobalt, if that's where the ramp entry is to be)

So a lot better.

Jokes aside, we find ourselves at Moody's or Arcade quite often. Hess as a club street is dead. There are like 2 or 3 clubs left, and even they were not that busy precovid. It's likely Hess will be replaced with a slightly more mature style much like Augusta. The Ship on Augusta which we love, owns Moody's, Amigos, and the newly opened Lucky's BBQ. I wouldn't be surprised if they open up a Ship-like pub on Hess at some point.

Down to the Ship and the Pheasant of the old guard as the new Judge opens up and there's a pop-up called Smoked residing in The Augusta House.

I wonder if and when, the parking lot next to the Medical Arts building (Young/Hughson corner) gets taken out.

I wish the city would put down cobblestone on this short stretch of Augusta, it would really improve the feel of the street.

Is there any way we can put that type of request in to the city?

It definitely wouldn't hurt to send councillor Farr an email with that suggestion... I know a few years back DPAI had a similar idea and created a little pedestrianization concept for the street.

Goooood luck. Farr may have cared when he won, but his enthusiasm for the downtown has disappeared completely. You'd be better off waiting for someone else to win one day and email them.

I really hope that Farr retires if he's going to continue to care so little. He refused to correspond with his engaged constituents, those of us that actually care. Not even his staff respond to me.

Years ago, Council moved unanimously to stop using interlock brick (or cobblestone) on our roadways. They deemed costs excessive. There might be openness to looking at stamped concrete (ie King William from James to John) however.
