The only thing I kinda wish they had done for this building is to give it a Flatiron sort of design. That is the perfect block for such a building and would have looked pretty sweet coming down S.1st.

The equipment on the site looks like what is used for diaphragm wall construction. I reread this thread, and a post from 2018 did point that out as being the type of construction based on an AULCC drawing. So that explains why there is so much going on at the site while the excavation has been minimal.

The image wasn't showing up for me, but I found it. The tenants are going to have some sweet views.

Endeavor just bought Zax’s restaurant, across the street from RiverSouth. As the article notes, this puts them in control of a lot of the south shore puzzle (Zax’s, Joe’s Crab Shack, the Statesman site).

That's cool and all however I feel that one development company taking so much reduces variety in building styles. Endeavour's projects tend to look similar. On the other hand, they will likely create a tied in district that will be seamless.

I am curious what Endeavour developments look similar to one another?

I can't answer for Jdawg about Endeavor. I think they are one of the best local developers. But when a developer selects one architect for a large development, the buildings can end up looking similar. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Yes sometimes the architecture is similar from one building to the next. This has been mentioned on this very forum in the past about Endeavour's projects. Nothing really cutting edge, not bad by any means but at the same time, not exactly pushing the envelope as it were when it comes to design. Sometimes it's good to have a little variety in an area and not have it look all the same. Austin's architecture is getting a bit too repetitive and I just think we need some other development companies to come in to maybe raise the bar or change things up.

FAA permit for the crane - 320 feet.

This says "TC#1" which I take to mean tower crane number one.

Someone has to have plans for the old Bennigins site. I mean, that thing has been vacant for a *very* long time.

I don't remember it, but Bennigins was apparently the building that was Upper Decks in its last incarnation.

I used to eat at that Bennigan's. It was in a parking garage at 301 Barton Springs Road next to the Embassy Suites. The facade was at the entrances to the garage and the whole of the restaurant was inside it. Pretty cool actually...if memory serves...

Hate to say it but I really liked that Bennigan's. That space was Mayor Adler's campaign headquarters in his first election.
